Well, I now have 2.5 doses of vaccine in me. Yup, you read that right, 2.5 and not 3. (...) I'm going back on january 13 but I still receive an updated QR code and vaccination proof which shows the 3rd dose but somehow nothing is added or said about that dose being "void". So Jep Gambardella , ask your vaccinator to check twice or to scan the syringe before he/she/whatever-they-want-to-be-called gives you the shot!
Oh man, that's terrible. It doesn't inspire a lot of confidence, that's for sure.
It will probably be 2022 by the time I am eligible to book an appointment for my booster shot. I am not sure when the appointment is actually going to be.
Well, side effects wise, there is none so far and I actually barely feel any stiffness/soreness around the part where the needle went in.
Had it been the other way around, a children getting an adult dose, it may have been problematic more than from a logistical standpoint.
Still, there was a chain of mistakes.
1st: Someone brought a cooler that had syringes with children doses when today, children were not expected/planned to be vaccinated at that place.
2nd: My vaccinator didn't check in which cooler he picked his syringe.
3rd: He injected me then scanned the syringe. Had he scanned first, he would have seen the problem and while it wouldn't have "erased" the other issues, I would have had an adult dose.
While I doubt, there will be many cases like mine, this is still a heads up just in case.

Anyone want to share how things are where you are? I'm having a booster tomorrow. Trying not to overreact - with suggestions that Omicron, while wildly infectious, typically results in milder symptoms - but all the cancellations in sports alone make you wonder about where we're headed in the next few days and weeks. I had my booster a few weeks ago and it hit me like a ton of bricks. The first shot I was exhausted, basically slept for the remainder of the day after getting it; the second shot I felt no reaction whatsoever. But the booster, hot damm, it felt like I got hit by a car for about 24 hours. Here in NY, positive tests are on the rise which makes sense given the colder weather forcing people indoors and holidays putting people together en masse. It's not a shocker when you factor those things together, coupled with the still-insane-fucking-amount-of-idiots who think vaccines are part of a deep state conspiracy. Just over the past week, I've received many calls from people that I have been in contact with, both at work and at various holiday parties, indicating that they, or someone in their immediate family, have tested positive. At my gym holiday party last week, I received calls from 6 different people who were there that have since tested positive. One of them is in the hospital with severe symptons....that person was not vaccinated. The rest were all vaccinated and unboosted, but were totally fine. I got tested on Friday and I came up negative, so the boosters definitely work. The upshot being that omicron seems vastly more contagious but also much less severe. Of course, if you're unvaccinated, all bets are off as to how you'll react. For me, however, I'm having heart surgery in early January. It's not major surgery, but if I test positive at all, I can't get the procedure done. So other than going to the in-laws on Friday night, I'm trapped in my home for the next few weeks. Best of luck with the operation. Its great that you're having it early in the year. It'll be behind you and you'll have all of 2022 to look forward to.

I got my booster a couple weeks ago and got sick for a few days. Weird, I didn't have the problem with the original shot. Nowadays, many places to go in NYC, you got to show your COVID card.
This is not a convenient time to have any medical procedure. I experienced all the pain in the neck protocol when I had my eye procedure done during the summer. Good luck with the surgery in January.

Thank you, my friend! Yeah, there are definitely a few more added steps. What should be a simple walk-in-and-sliced type of thing is now a multi-day event. Alas, it'll be worth it when I'm bounding around again in a few weeks.

www.newsweek.com/republicans-are-rewarding-people-refusing-vaccine-opinion-1663374Republicans Are Rewarding People for Refusing the VaccineThis is what happens when you elect Donald Trump president. He spent months denying covid was a serious issue (at least publicly, he's on tape telling Bob Woodward it's extremely dangerous, even while publicly telling his followers to ignore it; how you vote for him a second time, after being made aware of this, I'll never understand), he didn't publicly support the vaccine he himself got in January until the end of March, and now he's telling people they should (probably) get it, though it shouldn't be mandated. As this article points out, vaccine mandates are generations old! Public health and safety laws (such as seat belt or helmet laws) are an accepted part of life. Yet because Trump politicized the pandemic before it even took hold in America, conservatives view the illness and the vaccine that protects them from it as some kind of government trick. The media, the government, and health officials are imploring people to get vaccinated. The problem, of course, is Trump told them not to trust any of these entities. So even now, as he tries to pivot to being a pro-vaxxer, it's too late. The media only tells lies, the government is illegitimate (stop the steal!!) and health officials are only in it for themselves, according to Trump. He pushed lies and conspiracy theories, and conservative pundits, politicians, and media outlets all fell in line. This pandemic will continue to rage on and take lives, mostly those of the very idiots who listened to this asshole in the first place. The US is a large country, we were always going to get hit hard by covid. But can you imagine the difference genuine leadership would've made at the onset of the pandemic, and as it continued to rage? Imagine a leader, left or right, who put the safety of the general populace ahead of his reelection bid? We'll never know how many lives could've been saved over the last nearly two years. Instead we're still counting the dead as people refuse a vaccine that will save their lives!!! It gets darker. It's entirely plausible that some of these officials are encouraging non-vaccination for purely political reasons. More dead, more unemployed, it all looks worse for Biden. Hell, Trump himself earlier this year took a victory lap by posting online about how many more covid deaths there have been this year as opposed to 2020. So, you were right all along, Trump? Is this theory really that wild? What other explanation could there be? Polio, measles, chicken pox, you better get vaccinated. Covid? Don't listen to the man, he's lying to you! It's disgusting. As a citizen of the United States, as a functioning member of the world economy who wants the world to get back to normal, as a human being who wants to see people stop dying, I'm disgusted by what I see from these conservatives who pretend to care about their constituents. "I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees," has become a rallying cry for these imbeciles. You won't be dying on your feet. You'll be dying in a hospital bed that could've been reserved for the neighbor who fell off a ladder or got hit by a bus. Anti-vaxxers aren't just committing suicide, they're taking people with them to the grave. That sound you hear isn't the eagle of freedom's screech, it's you flatlining in the hospital when you could've gotten a vaccination like a modern human. Congratulations on being a 'free thinker' and sticking it to the man. You showed us.

Sister has covid for the second time in about 6-7 months. She's had lower back issues for a while, and Saturday it got so bad she couldn't sleep and had to go to the ER. After hours of running tests, they told her the back pain was a result of covid, which strikes me as odd. She's also apparently gone deaf out of one of her ears. My brother in law is sneezing a lot and my niece has a sore throat. Saw them Christmas Eve, haven't felt anything yet.

What's the thoughts on who they are taking with them? The previous sentence. Ah okay, got you. I asked because it was reminding me about something I was laughing about with one of the in-laws the other day:- A UK tabloid had a headline like "Give us all the best Christmas Present - Get Vaccinated" and we were speculating over who this was a good present for (given the latest that vaccinated or non vaccinated can apparently get and spread it just the same - with the herd immunity argument for lockdowns now out the window). So what was the drive to shame the small unvaccinated percentage to get vaccinated? We were speculating that it was because the bad unvaccinated people could be spreading it to the good unvaccinated people but strictly within unvaccinated communities, given otherwise we can all spread it regardless! But who were those good people still unvaccinated after all this time? But the ICU bed uptake could indeed be another factor. Having said that - I read flu (which had been pretty much eradicated in the UK last winter) was still down by over 90% this winter (!) so you'd have to factor in these beds being freed up.

The point is that now we're all sacrificing to save those who clearly don't want to be saved. Not getting vaccinated puts you at risk, puts others at risk by overwhelming the healthcare system, and frankly inconveniences the rest of us for no good reason. Why should we have to 'mask up,' get tested and potentially quarantine for something that can't do us any real harm? Meanwhile someone who is injured through no fault of their own might have trouble getting medical help because the hospital is overwhelmed with people that would not be there had they simply gotten the shot.

India's major cities Mumbai and Delhi are showing sudden spurt in new cases. If such a growth in new cases continues for 4 more days then India's 3rd wave will almost be inevitable. '
Corona is so unpredictable that I cannot predict the extent of damage it may cause. Till now I believe India as a nation has responded exceptionally well bar one issue (lack of oxygen during second wave). Indian government has been exceptionally good and a good approach has been followed in vaccination program too. Considering the relatively less medical facilities available in India its fight against Corona has been more than good. I believe India will see close to 1.3 million new cases a day during 3rd wave but the 3rd wave will be very short lived. If Omicron variant is the dominant strain in the 3rd wave then we might be better off as it seems even if it is more contagious, it seems to be less deadly than delta or other earlier variants.
Countries like India/Indonesia/Bangladesh/Sri Lanka have a different social and family setup which causes both disadvantage and advantage compared to social/family setup of the US/Europe. The disadvantage of these lower income countries is that people live in large families so in a wave almost everyone will get infected at once. In less populated countries like Europe/US (density wise) most people live in a single or double household so not everyone gets infected at once. However, this also means waves in Europe and America persist for longer time period. In lower income countries waves come and go quickly so there is more time for preparation.
Iran is an exception to above as it seems to see many new waves.
