Aren't there a lot of Vegans in South Korea and Japan?
How do you account for the death pool there - lack of protein?
Their immunity is weaker?
Japanese are said to have a very good diet which is why they become that old. But being old and thus frail is the greatest concern regarding any flu - no matter what seasonal branding it got. Germans are like pigs (or piggies - we can be really nice at times - if you are not Poland!) and eat everything as long as it is cheap (ok, many have to), but maybe the antibiotics and all the other biological and chemicals agents which used by the agriculture industry keep us at bay with this virus. Being healthy and with a strong immune system is your best assurance. Anyway: I'll call it a "Scheinriese: www.thelocal.de/20190624/scheinrieseIt's a hype/hysteria feed and kept by the media. The numbers do not justify this frenzy. PS: We got toilet paper, there was tons of toilet paper at my Lidl (In the Rhein/Main area it' a different story, and that is where I work) and we bought only a single unit with eight rolls in it. WesterwÀlder are sturdy beasts. Albeit I'm born in Hesse and also received a lot of my education here. Except for this guy maybe: We don't lose hour heads over such things. PS: I'm a bit more vocal then this fellow countrymen when I'm displeased as the agents of the New York homeland security learned after they let me wait for four hours...after making some unhappy noises they just let me pass without any further inspections. EDIT: To make one thing clear: of course antibiotics are of no help in combating a virus. They might keep you healthy and thus helping you to combat it. But they are not treating or preventing an infection caused by a virus. So if the Walking Dead are cause by a virus like in Resident Evil (or any other educational program), you will be screwed. But this corona virus is a wimp, it's no real life T-virus. It's a little fucker, a bit more rampage as the regular seasonal flu, but nothing more.

True: www.livescience.com/new-coronavirus-compare-with-flu.htmlBut again: it is old people with a frail health who will be at risk. 32 million cases in the US alone but "only" 18,000 death vs. 89,000/3,000 worldwide. And note that the death toll percentage in countries like South Korea or Germany (good infrastructure and health system) is far lower. In Germany it is still zero. No one died of it so far (and it is only 262 cases overall). When SARS or the swine flu occurred, far more people died in less developed countries then in developed countries like Sweden. If you are young, healthy and if you keep certain aspects in mind, and these tips how to behave are all over the place, then your risk is minimal. I got one flyer from my employer, from my brother's employer, I read it all over the news (internet) or hear it (TV stations). There is no reason to panic. Stay calm, stay focused, adhere to these instruction, and you will be fine. It won't be the end of the world. But this corona virus shows me how much our media have become a problem.

Including the attitude that the media is nothing but a collective fearmongering conspiracy and everybody's fine and there's no danger. I'm not saying that's what you're doing, but in my day to day experiences I'm seeing this in the real world as well... and largely those people don't read past the headlines. Sure, I'll be fine. I dont have respiratory illness, I'm otherwise healthy, and I'm young in the context of this issue. But healthy people who don't show symptoms create an especially high risk of spreading the virus. The cavalier attitude that so many people are taking in the face of the others who are panicking hypochondriacs are also part of the problem. As usual, both sides are making things worse and the truth lies in the middle. It's important to listen to actual doctors and scientists. Unfortunately many people with a platform (specifically one guy with the absolute largest platform) do not believe in science and waiting to hear facts and just talk shit instead. The best advice is to not go crazy, but to also be smart. Not many people adhere to either. But good on ya for the Sleepy Hollow clip. If only Westchester still looked like that, the population density around hear would not have much to be concerned about. Although, we'd also have a harder time washing our hands. It's a trade off.

I agree, and this is why I say one should adhere to these information/flyers how to behave: like washing your hands, do not cough in your hand but your elbow etc. pp. and it neither not that hard, nor is it too much to ask for. Actually, things like washing your hands or not coughing into the faces of others (and people still do) should (or are) be general rules. We have a co-worker who had the nerve to show up at work being sick, and coughing without covering when he was with others at the printer station. In the end he was ask to leave after several of my colleagues had complaint about his status. A problem is that many people are simply afraid to lose their job or at least to get into trouble if they report themselves to be sick and stay at home. And these worries are justified unfortunately.

While your points about people being afraid to lose their jobs or get reprimanded are definitely spot on, the overall lack of common sense while just out in general public is something that baffles me to this day. For example, the other morning, my wife and I were standing in line at our favorite bagel place waiting to get breakfast. Some guy, an adult mind you, older than me, just sneezes directly into the back of my head. No hand over his mouth, no turning away, he just let it fly and you bet your bottom dollar I felt every bit of it. What kind of savage does that? Forget about coronovirus, just how inconsiderate and disgusting of a human being do you have to be to do that? I get it that small children are going to walk around coughing, sneezing and wiping their goobers all over the place, but a guy who was at least 45 years old? Clean it up, ace.

I'd recommend taking your own Bible as well.
I don't know how things are done over there - but over here we have 'community Bibles' which are in the pews.
Also - when you kneel - take a towel to kneel on.
People here take their own Missal to Mass rather than use a Bible. We do have communal Hymnals though đ đ· I've got a plan to get a whole pew to myself on Sunday, just cough and sneeze a few times should do the trick đ Back in the fold of the Universal church then?!

My old firm, one of the senior partners used to come out of the stall and just head right out the door every single time. For the 12 years I worked there I saw him do this, and I'm guessing throughout his entire life. Ugh. Every single door he touches from there to get back to his office, opening the fridge in the kitchen, shaking people's hands, touching apples at the grocery store, handling the TV remote in the hotel....I'm not a germophobe by any stretch of the imagination, but that's just disgusting on so many levels.

Anything you touch in a public bathroom is immaculate compared to the door handle you're going to touch on your way out. The bathroom may be gross, but it's much less likely to get you sick than shaking someone's hand.

I'm also well stocked (in general, not this current scare) in hand sanitizer. Home/office/travel. Anyway, the reason you get sick from shaking someone's hand is they coughed in their hand, handled their junk in the bathroom and god knows what else and didn't wash their hands, then shook hands with you. That's my concern here, not just the bathroom itself.
