Dan Patrick, lieutenant governor of Texas says older people should be volunteering to die to save the economy š§ He is 69, and Trump is 73... They should lead by example. Although I'm guessing they mean poor older people š¤ Texas is one of the remaining states that doesn't have a stay at home order. It seems their plan is to let the vulnerable die off for the sake of the Dow Jones. Kind of like the third reich killing off the disabled. The UK government plan was the same. They only changed course after the scientific and medical community threatened to completely denounce them for it. "60000 RM. This is what this person suffering from hereditary defects costs the Community of Germans during his lifetime. Fellow Citizen, that is your money, too."

I'm only 61. I guess I'm safe. š¤š¤š¤ Not really... Your risk is elevated over 50, and one mutation of covid 19 is killing healthy young people in their 20s and 30s with no underlying health problems. But if you don't make it, you should be prepared to die for your president and the dollar anyway.

Questionable whether the Italian lockdown is working:- www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/italy/It had seemed to level off for a couple of days but then the new case numbers shot up again yesterday. Next few days will be interesting to see where this goes. You can see here why it may not work - e.g. Struggling to work out why takeaway services are still allowed to open. You've got workers from 3/4 different homes still coming into the same place and mixing, potentially already infected but asymptomatic, then the deliveroo / justeat guy arrives (prob a student living with 3/4 other guys who were out partying last weekend, also asymptomatic) comes in to that takeaway, then other takeaway, etc and goes door to door, in and out of apartment blocks, etc.

My risk of what? Contracting the Coronavirus? Getting sick from it? Being hospitalized? Or dying? Requiring critical care and/or dying if you do contract covid 19. No, that's wrong. My odds of contracting it if I come in contact with it are 50/50. 0 percent if I successfully practice self isolation and social distancing. If I contract it, I have a 50 percent chance of either getting sick, or experiencing no symptoms at all. If I do get sick, there is only a 20 percent chance I will need hospitalization. And if I need hospitalization, there is only a 4 percent chance I will die. I have a better chance of dying in a car accident.

I see the US is copying the UK...
Your underequipped hospital staff are also resorting to wearing bin bags as PPE, and your doctors and nurses are also now dying after catching covid 19 at work.

Italian doctors are now warning that that 14 days isolation is too short for covid 19.
Once caught, people can remain infectious for 30 days.
Will anybody listen š¤·āāļø or will we just keep letting the known infected out again after a fortnight, for a couple of weeks of community transmission?
Also, they are seeing more and more people in their 30s hospitalised in severe respiratory distress in northern Italy now.

We don't all drive around in invisible vehicles, leaving us & anyone/everyone around us susceptible to invisible car collisions... only to learn about them up to 14 days afterwards. I'm not even responding directly to you cuz I just blocked you, yet I do think the prudent messaging from health & scientific leaders can't be stressed enough.

It would be nice if they had even a passing concern about what their actions might mean for others.

Especially if the hospital is filled with Covid-19 patients and there are no available beds or doctors to give you care.

Just came back from the supermarket. Bare shelves - giant line leading/splitting off to 2 cashiers as a customer service rep directed traffic keeping everybody 6 feet apart. Old folk lost in the aisles. Felt for the poor workers with face masks on - poor girl who checked me out was getting berated for not wiping down the belt properly - couldn't have been more than 18 years old - had tears in her eyes as she looked at the long line backed up to the produce section. Place was filled with hot soccer moms though
