The reason the latest French daily tally was so high is that it included almost 900 people who have died in care homes since CV first arrived in France They hadn’t been included in the figures until now. So it is a bit misleading.

Good point. She works as a vendor in Cosco, BJ's and Target and all three of those joints are still open for business. She also works in CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aids but while some of them are still open as "essential businesses" the company She works for shut down out of fear of the outbreak and will not send any employees to these stores to service the accounts.
Technically She still has a job, and could theoretically go to work since the stores are open and do the jobs but the company won't pay and the shit heads at unemployment aren't willing to pay up.
I got into vending years ago and work for another company. My company is still willing to pay us if we are willing to go out and do the jobs we volunteer for. I was still willing to go into places like Target and Wal-Mart and whatnot and take on these jobs because hell, I need money! My Mom not qualifying for unemployment doesn't leave me with a whole lot of alternatives.
Take your chances out there in the trenches, or sit at home with no income being told off by some state worker numb nuts you don't qualify for unemployment because you still have a job and could be working? Stay at home and self isolate isn't really an option for me.
Did or does your mother list you as a dependent on her taxes? Nah. We don't qualify for that.
My Brother finally got his test results back and he's clean, he still has a persistent cough and the doctors are treating him for a mild case of pneumonia.

Did you, and your brothers and sisters file tax returns this year or last year?

Did you see where both Panama and Peru are letting people out on certain days based on gender?
Peru will allow men and women out on separate days as part of a gender-based quarantine measure designed to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.
The new measures will begin in Peru today, President Martin Vizcarra announced to the nation on Thursday. So far, Peru has reported 1,414 cases of coronavirus and 55 deaths.
"Monday, Wednesday, and Friday," only men can be outside; "Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, only women are allowed to circulate," said Vizcarra. The gender-based measure will be in effect until Sunday, April 12. It comes two days after Panama began restricting movement by gender, arguing the measure urges people to return home since their loves ones are not allowed to be outside.
Peru said it would adopt the same system following the positive results the gender-based measure has yielded in other countries and due to its simplicity in visually detecting who should and shouldn't be out on the streets, Vizcarra explained.

According to the BBC only 18 countries haven't reported a coronavirus case ( www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-52120439) The 18 countries without Covid-19 Comoros; Kiribati; Lesotho; Marshall Islands; Micronesia; Nauru; North Korea; Palau; Samoa; Sao Tome and Principe; Solomon Islands; South Sudan; Tajikistan; Tonga; Turkmenistan; Tuvalu; Vanuatu, Yemen I suspect North Korea, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, South Sudan and Yemen probably do have cases that they aren't reporting so that leaves 14 safe places to be at the moment unless you count the Arctic and Antarctic continents

Just got back from the supermarket
75% of people had masks on.
Saw on the news early AM that New York is now stating everybody that needs to go out should be wearing masks just like what's happening in L.A.
Youtubing how to make masks out of some bandanas I have right now.
Hey Father Jack - if you're reading - hope you're safe.

Premier League players to take 30% pay cut (/ er... face saving "deferral"):- www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52148955Not far enough I'd say. The clubs really need to be footing their non playing staff's wages. Utilizing the Government scheme is an absolute disgrace given the money the EPL generates.

www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/04/nhs-worker-quit-when-she-was-stopped-from-wearing-face-maskIt's a mad house! Tracy Brennan chastised superiors at hospitals trust for making her remove mask she had bought herself A healthcare worker in north-west London quit her job after she was refused permission to wear a protective face mask, the Guardian has learned. In her resignation letter (below), Tracy Brennan chastised her superiors at Hillingdon Hospitals NHS foundation trust for forbidding her from wearing a surgical mask she had bought to protect herself – and the patients she was caring for – from contracting the deadly virus. Brennan, a healthcare assistant, which is also sometimes referred to as an auxiliary nurse, said she had returned to work after self-isolating for 14 days because her daughter had shown symptoms of Covid-19. She said that patients in the ward where she was working, which was not a coronavirus treatment ward, felt comfortable with her wearing the surgical mask and some positively encouraged her to do so. She wrote in the letter: “Upon arriving to work on Tuesday morning, whilst still wearing a mask, you asked me for a word in your office. You outlined to me that wearing a mask wasn’t following the trust policy and asked me to remove it. I responded stating that I wasn’t pleased with this instruction and defended myself stating that I was uncomfortable not wearing a mask while dealing with patients who may be carriers of Covid, however I adhered to the request.” She said that later that day, while taking blood, a patient coughed into her unprotected face but, despite relaying details of the incident, she was still refused permission to wear her mask. Brennan wrote: “With a heavy heart and sadness, I feel I have no alternative but to hand this letter in as my formal resignation and will be unable to work my notice due to not being allowed to wear sufficient personal protective equipment (PPE) for the duties I perform.” NHS England has insisted that lack of PPE is down to distribution problems rather than shortages, but many remain sceptical. On Friday, a group of organisations including Doctors in Unite and the Doctors’ Association UK issued a demand that the government repurpose industry to produce adequate quantities of PPE, including face masks, preferably to the highest specification. A spokesman for the Hillingdon trust said: “Our trust takes the safety of all our staff extremely seriously and we follow national guidelines, as set out by Public Health England. We regularly update staff on the types of PPE and the rules for its use ... We are also providing extra support to our staff during the current emergency both for their physical and their mental health and wellbeing.” The Department of Health and Social Care said: “In the past two weeks the NHS supply chain have delivered 397m pieces of PPE equipment. While we are confident that enough supply is now reaching the frontline, we appreciate there were limited distribution problems to begin with while we dealt with a new demand caused by this emerging epidemic.” Tracy Brennan’s letter: I am writing to inform you of the recent issues … over the last two days. As you are aware, I have been in self-isolation for the past 14 days due to my daughter having symptoms of Covid-19 and, upon returning to work, I have attempted to wear a surgical mask, which I have supplied myself. The reason for wearing the mask is to reduce the risk of me potentially spreading the virus to patients and colleagues whilst also protecting myself from contracting the virus from said patients and colleagues. Whilst carrying out my duties on Monday, I made sure to ask the patients if they felt comfortable with me wearing the protective mask and all gave their consent, with some also stating that they felt more comfortable with me wearing it due to being in such close proximity. Upon arriving to work on Tuesday morning, whilst still wearing a mask, you asked me for a word in your office. You outlined to me that wearing a mask wasn’t following the trust policy and asked me to remove it. I responded stating that I wasn’t pleased with this instruction and defended myself stating that I was uncomfortable not wearing a mask while dealing with patients who may be carriers of Covid, however I adhered to the request. Later that day, whilst taking blood from one of our patients, they accidentally coughed in my face. I told you what had just happened, however, you informed me I was still unable to wear my mask. With a heavy heart and sadness. I feel I have no alternative but to hand his letter in as my formal resignation and will be unable to work my notice due to not being allowed to wear sufficient PPE for the duties I perform. I love my job and have loved working with you and the girls in the ward and miss you all dearly. Please keep safe in these troubling times. Yours sincerely, Tracy Brennan

So my wife has just got back from our weekly shopping run (she last went 8 days ago). Our local Sainsbury's are still doing an amazing job and all distancing rules from last week are in place. The biggest difference to last week is the presence of the police and EVERYONE is being stopped and asked what they are doing. When told she was going for the weekly shop she was asked the last time she went shopping, she had the presence of mind to keep the receipt from the last shop and showed it to the police man. She was only allowed to continue when she showed them the mask and gloves she was going to where once out of the car. The other main difference was a lot less people about. There wasn't a queue at all at the local green grocer and she only saw one other car moving on the road on her 12 mile round trip and maybe 30 to 40 people queuing to get in the supermarket so it seems people are staying in more around here.

Just back from picking up my prescription and shopping at Iceland on Easter Rd. Quite a lot of people out on the street ... hardly any wearing face masks or even scarves over their noses and mouths. Precious few people wearing gloves. So many dummies in Scotland. I fear we will get it pretty badly here. Only two allowed in at a time at the pharmacy. Luckily I was only waiting outside about 5 minutes and my prescription was already made up so was in and out in seconds. None of the staff were wearing face masks or gloves! Iceland wasn’t too busy. Some of the staff had face masks, some didn’t. Managed to buy milk and eggs, which was nice.

Going to the supermarket is one of the things which makes me think the situation is hopeless. That tale of Sainsbury's above is actually kind of reassuring but the supermarket I was in the other day (buying stuff for an elderly neighbour) was a disaster. They had the tape on the floor and notices about 2 metres but no one was respecting it. Honestly I was getting some cheese from the chilled section and this old guy just started walking right up beside me! I jumped back and went half way down the isle. Guy was just either totally oblivious or didn't give a stuff. Needs more police involvement I think - plus there should be a one way system set up as best as possible to ensure you don't swing around a corner straight into someone's face...

It's good to get out the house once in a while, so you don't suffer from "cabin fever". I say if you stay 6 feet away from others and don't touch your face, you should be okay.
