Is the word "kid" meaning "young" in English, and not necessarily "teen"?
Because, at the very end of "Apocalypse", in the Danger Room, Mystique says to the guys: "You're not kids anymore".
Well, Cyclops and Phoenix apart (they are 18), Quicksilver was surely 28 (if he was 18 in DOFP), Storm was older than 20 (if you count her cameo in FC, where she looked 3/4), Nightcrawler was surely 20 (older than Cyke).
Mystique talks about school and students, so I guess the Danger Room sequence is placed after months and they have been Xavier's students for some time? That's my guess.
