Red Buttons won an Oscar for Sayonara (1957) and had TV shows afterwards, including The Double Life of Henry Phyfe. But he had one before Sayonara too.
This reminds me of Eddie Albert, two time nominee who continued to make films, but also became a television star with series like "Green Acres" and "Switch."

I recall watching and enjoying Bosom Buddies. At the time I thought Peter Scolari had a bright future, but Hanks - not so much.

Oh, I long for the days of those anthology series from the fifties and early sixties! So many were pure gold, this one among them. EDIT TO ADD: In reviewing this series, bat, I found that one of its productions was a show called "Out on the Outskirts of Town," which I vividly remember seeing when it first aired in 1964. It was written by Oscar winning/Pulitzer Prize winning playwright William Inge and starred Anne Bancroft (after her Oscar win for The Miracle Worker!) and Fay Bainter. I think that's a pretty good example of how well done the show was. Oh, those really were the days! Here's a picture of Bancroft with Inge, who played the role of the doctor in the episode.
and with Fay Bainter

Tom Hanks-first time I saw him was as a psycho in MAZES AND MONSTERS.
Re: Jack Palance
"California Police Department detective series" has me intrigued.
