Reviews for GOTG 2 basically agree that is has no real plot, no real stakes, bad villain, overuses jokes etc. yet because it is "fun" it gets a big thumbs up.

And...
Being a blast is a very positive quality. I am guessing much of it works becasue of the style and the likeability of the characters. Sometimes that is enough to make a film extremely entertaining.
The first one kind of had the same problems, but I like that movie.

Fun is an important quality to a movie. Something Zach Snyder is vehemently opposed to.

Fun is an important quality to a movie. Something Zach Snyder is vehemently opposed to. Well Snyder makes pretty shitty movies. Watchman was decent but that's it.

Don't know if they do but they definitely rate Marvel films on a curve. 70% movies get 90% from them. 50% movies get 70% and so on

Taxi Driver has no levity, no real wit, and arguably not even an actual antagonist, yet because it was "compelling" many sheep try to act like it was some kind of good film.

Doesn't seem the general concensus in the reviews I've read. And in the context of what the film is - a comic book blockbuster - rating a film highly because it succeeds at being fun and entertaining seems fair enough. Maybe Marvel actually are making films critics do enjoy. Is it that hard to believe? You or other individuals may not like them, but it's a far more believable reason for their consistent good reviews than thinking, like some do, that Disney is one big bribery machine.

If it helps, Jeremy Jahns of all people gave it a rather mixed review.

WB was the actual company getting caught fixing reviews and they own rotten tomatoes. Somehow, though, idiots think Disney pays off the critics. Maybe they just make entertaining movies?

Don't even need to read reviews to know what kind of film this will be. This will probably be the first MCU movie i avoid watching in the cinemas because it looks way too goofy and childish for any adult to watch. Good plot and character evolution keep my interest in movies, not a 2 hour gag reel with constant flat Jokes and quips by every hero every 5 minutes.
