I believe the three greatest films since the year 2000 were...
"There Will Be Blood" "No Country for Old Men" "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford"
How is it that these films all came out in the same year. They could have all swept the Oscars any other year. Separate years.
Best actor in any of these films is Daniel Day Lewis. But I disagree that TWBB is the best of the three. I think the best ensemble cast is TAOJJ, with Brad Pitt, Casey Affleck, and Sam Rockwell. Even the minor side characters were amazing and left and impact. The best overall film, direction, writing, acting, etc was NCFOM.
My opinion.

I looked at my top movies and imdb's top movies for the last 20 years and couldn't pick a best year. 2007 was one of the better years.

More of my personal favorites from that year: Lions For Lambs The Kingdom Elizabeth: The Golden Age I Am Legend Shooter I could actually go on. 2007 was a great year for film.

That's only 3 films. How can you prove it with just that amount?

That's only 3 films. How can you prove it with just that amount? Nothing about art can be proven, it's all subjective. However, the 3 movies in the OP are all excellent, and then Rey brought up a bunch more good ones. So at the very least, we can say 2007 was a pretty damn good year for films.

2017 for me, though 2007 had higher highs.

I do think 07 was a great year as well as far as quantity goes. I was just thinking if Godfather could’ve listed more than the given amount to suffice his argumentation.

I don't think 2007 was the best year for movies in the past 20 years but I thought it was the last good year for movies in the past 20 years 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, were all great.

None of the three films you named would make my top ten for the year, although TWWB has grown in my estimation since seeing it and could potentially slip in on a re-watch. 2007 was not a bad year, but there are several in the last two decades that impressed me more overall. 2001 and 2004 come to mind immediately.

I know it's an opinion. But a lot of critics agree that TWBB is the best film of the 21st Century
