I guess they're as good a choice as any to take over. I just wish we could leave it alone now that Craven isn't around.
Whatevr it ends up becoming, I'm sure it'll be better than the show though.

RoN has a tone similar to the likes of Scream, although more over-the-top in certain parts, so thatโs good.

The last couple of Scream films treaded a little too far into Scary Movie territory. Then of course the show was practically humorless. Hard to strike that balance the first two films had. I'll hope for the best as I did like Ready Or Not, but I'll remain cautious.

Ready or Not was more comedy than horror, but a did some of each pretty well.
But that doesn't mean that's exactly what they'll do for this material. I'd imagine they're all fans and want to something in keeping with the tone of the best of the movies.

I'll watch it and see, but it's a shame Wes never got to do it right after Scream 4.

I for sure hope to see this movie in the cinema when it's released, as I saw the first four films in the theaters. I can't imagine that a few main actors won't return for this movie, such as Neve Campbell and David Arquette. It would be nice to see Courtney Cox return as well but it would be understandable if she doesn't come back. Even if Cox came back to die right at the beginning of the film, would be totally worth it to see, for me, lol. I have no doubt that this movie will be the fun slasher the previous films were. Of course, the first movie was a perfect movie. The second film dropped a bit but kept some good twists ans story-lines. The third movie was far too comedic but it rounded out the trilogy nicely. And the fourth movie played a great sequel from a decade later with a rather nice ending twist. I love horror movies, I love slasher movies. I'm usually not crazy for comedy to be included in the mix of those two, especially dumb-cliche kind of comedy. Which the Scream movies continued to incorporate into their movies over the four films. Of course, I do think that was a strong reflection of Wes Craven's eccentric personality in all of his films. And I loved Kraven's directorial work. For a "Scream 5" movie, it would be nice to keep the horror up with not too much comedy. But with movies nowadays, I'm sure they'll be a lot of humor in and out of the movie. The opening of "Scream 4" was a clear example of the 'Scream humor' in the movies. I'll be happy to see where another sequel will take us either way. Scream has always been a franchise with dedicated fans. It's a true slasher series amongst movies post-1980's.

January is such a suckass month for a Scream movie. Ugh. why? It means nothing about quality at this point, there are a backlog of releases from 2020 that will be in 2021. January horror movies do decent business even when they are bad. There is actually no bad month to release a horror movie, October in theory makes the most money.

I just like my horror in the Summer, Fall, and Christmastime.

Official announcement that Neve Campbell has joined the film.
I thought we knew that a while ago, but I guess we actually do now...
