That's just silly talk. While the first season is, by far, the best of the 3 thus far, it doesn't really come close to either Breaking Bad or Sopranos, in my humble opinion. Too funny you guys are having this discussion as I'm binge watching the Sopranos again right now as I type
I'm on Season 3 Episode 1
Great show but some of the episodes don't hold up for me and are rather cringe worthy
*** Spoilers Below ***
Love the character Christopher; however the episodes that have revolved around him - i.e. his Music Producing Career and then his failed Movie Writer episode were rather cringe worthy for my own personal tastes I literally cannot stand the scenes with Tony's shrink as well - other than - great show
Loved Ozark - can't wait for Season 4. Loved the scenery, atmosphere and musical score/soundtrack and found myself rooting for Bateman and the character Ruth, and despising the wife
I go out of the BB, Sopranos, Ozark
1. Breaking Bad 2. Ozark 3. Sopranos (and that's no slight to The Sopranos)
The only thing that ever really bothered me about Sopranos was when they would whine about the stereotypes of Italians. There's one episode (S4E3) called Columbus, or maybe it's Christopher Columbus(?) and it's mostly a bottle episode devoted to arguing about the sanctity of Columbus Day and what it really means to Italians, to Native Americans, and to this country as a whole. It's a garbage episode. Not because what they're saying is totally off-base, or whatever, but it just doesn't fit into the show at all.

I am starting to watch Ozark, after a friend highly recommended it. Only two episodes in, but I like it so far. Jason Bateman goes into uncharted territory, exchanging comedy for crime drama.
Has anyone seen it? There are three 10-episode seasons on Netflix, with a fourth one apparently on the way.
Have you seen The Outsider on HBO? It's a series based on a Stephen King novel done with a pretty stark crime/detective kinda tone. Jason Bateman acts in it as well as directs the first few episodes. He's really stepping into something different there and while though show doesn't finish as strong as it starts, he's quite good in front of and behind the camera.
No, I haven't seen it. I will put it on my list. By 2025 I should get around to watching it!

You nailed the description of that show. The first handful of episodes, holy shit I was totally hooked. It didn't hold up but overall, you're spot about Bateman. It looked great, had the most palpable sense of dread I've seen in quite some time and the performances were mostly really good, in spite of the shows hiccups in the back half. Absolutely. Loved the character relationships for the most part and Ben Mendelsohn is really terrific, speech impediment and all. In typical, almost cliche Stephen King fashion the characters are full and compelling and the setup is tremendous and then the resolution is ultimately a little unworthy of how well things were executed prior to that... but it still makes for an overall worthwhile experience. I think they're planning on doing another season carrying on with the Holly Gibney character since she's a recurring character in multiple novels, but I also understand that she's been altered from her personality in the books, but I can't claim to know too much about that. Maybe I'll pick up one of them for the plane.

God, I know that feeling... so many titles I've been meaning to get to. This is partly why I don't get into many series. It's such a time commitment to invest 10 hours into a story when I could watch around 4 or more films in that period of time. Plus, I don't think most of these shows justify their runtime... especially the 'limited series.' For the most part I think they could usually be cut down into a interesting 2 or 3 hours movies. I'll never understand why people bemoan a 3 hour movie but will watch a 12 hour series in one sitting binge session.

My son complains when we make him watch a movie with us (and he always ends up loving the movies by the way), yet he'd watch DuckTales for 312 consecutive hours if you let him.

I wonder if that changes with age for little kids. My nephews, much like me at that age, watch the same few things over and over again ... but then again with series maybe there's a similarity because each episode of a kids show is more or less the same without being exactly so. Is the new Ducktales any good?

Rob Zombie's 3 From Hell was finally free on my cable package after being released on it almost 2 years ago for 'Rent/Buy' Loved seeing the old gang back together Wasn't remotely as good as HOTC or TDR - and felt like a cheap rehash of TDR that was half as good - But half as good as TDR is still pretty enjoyable

Is the new Ducktales any good? Yeah it's pretty fun. Anyway I always give him a hard time about it, but I get it. A children's cartoon is a self-contained story directed at a kid's attention span and it's only like 22 minutes of content. A movie, even a Marvel movie which is virtually an action comedy, is going to feature scenes with a lot of dialog/exposition without much going on (at least from a 6 year old's perspective) and the story takes a couple hours to finish. 22 minutes and 120 minutes is a big difference. A great example is the Addams Family. We've watched the movies once each, he's probably seen every episode of the original show 10 times. Kids just want to watch the same stuff over and over again, you basically have to force them to watch something else (which they of course will love, and want to watch that over and over again). He had a handful of movies he was fixated on when he was younger, now he at least has a bunch of titles to choose from. He's still watch the same flick over and over again if you let him, but again just keep showing him new kids movies and he'll fixate on the newer thing instead. We had to cut off Home Alone 1 & 2 sometime in mid-January, he wanted to watch them every day after school. Then he became obsessed with the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. (As I say all this I feel it necessary to point out we don't let him watch a ton of tv. It's a couple hours on the weekends, and maybe an hour or so after school, unless he wants to watch a specific movie. Weekday mornings are strictly PBS kids before school.)

Worth a watch?
Just like I've never seen an Underworld or Blade movie and I love vampires / werewolves
They just didn't look like my cup of tea from trailers / clips

Worth a watch? In a word, no. They're shite. The desert one is okish. That's about it.

There's many horror franchises out there I never even gave a shot at that seem to be widely popular
Like the 3 I mentioned above - and also the Conjuring/Annabelle/Isn't there a 3rd? Universe
The Insiduous movies too....
I didn't get the over the top love for The Conjuring - was bored to tears - to each their own

Blade 1 & 2 are solid flicks. Underworld 1 was alright, I guess. I don't think I've seen the others. I think I saw the first Resident Evil, though I don't remember much about it.

Guys, have we talked about Army of the Dead yet? Headed to see it on Friday. No idea if the movie will be any good, but this has to be a top ten trailer of all time for me. This looks to be the greatest movie ever made in Western Civilization History
I'm in
Question though
In a Zombie Apocalypse World - why would anybody be concerned about $200 million (or whatever the figure was)?
It's pretty much anarchy and survival of the fittest and the world as we know it is over
When you're on a run for rations - food, gas, medical supplies - what are you going to leave some coin at the cash register and a tip too?

We actually had a Mayor that did this once

Because sending Dave Bautista in to recover $200M sounds like more fun.
