For Boxing fans here -
I can't recommend the above 'Macho: The Hector Camacho Story' enough
Tragic sad tale of an entertaining charasmatic fighter who couldn't keep his demons under control that led to his eventual demise
Definitely worth a watch - especially if you loved 90s boxing like me
Being a boxing fan - I'll probably give it a watch again

For my first movie of the year, I wanted something with a bit of heft, to start the year in a good way. I settled on Casino (1995), a movie that I don’t think I had ever re-watched since its original release. I didn’t remember it very well, so it was almost like discovering it for the first time. Scorsese seldom disappoints, and he certainly didn’t here. It had been a while since I had last seen top-shelf Robert de Niro; I had almost forgotten how good he was before he started doing mostly stupid comedies and what not. Joe Pesci is also great it.

That really is a great, re-watchable movie. In addition to DeNiro and Pesci, Sharon Stone is also so brilliant that you literally want to reach through the screen and strangle her yourself. A great little quirk is that features two Vegas comic legends in Alan King and Don Rickles in dramatic roles. Also nice to see Frank Vincent get his revenge on Pesci.

I kind of miss Daniel vs. Johnny
Feel as if I'm watching 'My So Called Life' Meets 'Boy Meets World' Meets 'Saved By The Bell'

I kind of miss Daniel vs. Johnny Feel as if I'm watching 'My So Called Life' Meets 'Boy Meets World' Meets 'Saved By The Bell' My two cents - spoilers below. I loved the first season, but I thought the second season was really silly. The Daniel and Johnny storylines are the only ones that are interesting, along with Miguel, but literally everyone else is a cartoon character at this point, even my childhood friend Courtney Henggeler. The first season seamlessly struck a delicate balance of creating something new while paying homage to the original. It was fun but not silly, the characters had believable motivations and the conflicts were organic and borne out of the story that preceded it.
Season 2 failed to accomplish that on basically every level, culminating in a cartoonish fight at the school. It's silly. Season 3 has taken that same silliness and exploded it. Whereas season 1 managed to have neither "good" guys nor "bad" guys but rather, earnest misunderstandings that got out of hand, those things are abandoned. There are clear good guys and bad guys now, and John Creese is doing everything but twirling his mustache while tying a damsel to the railroad tracks. It's uninteresting, and I hate to say it, but the karate scenes have reached the point of gratuity. In season 1, Miguel got his ass kicked and you saw him laboring around the school afterwards. Now, kids are taking kicks to the face and flying into walls and they're perfectly fine. Every episode features a ridiculous fight where people are getting pummeled and other than Dmitri's arm, nary an injury or even a bruise can be spotted.
Other than some great scenes with Johnny helping Miguel rehab, it's just not interesting TV. The arc in Okinawa was melodramatic and too cliche laden. My wife wants to watch it so we're almost done with the current season but it just isn't good.

Completely agree
The scenes with Johnny are priceless though.
He carries the show IMO - and Daniel is such an unlikable character - a real know it all holier than though doucher
I wish in Season 4 Johnny would end up banging Daniel's wife. She falls in love with him and Johnny moves in.
Danielson falls into deep depression and becomes an alcoholic drinking Coors Banquet 24/7 while Johnny lives happily ever after with Daniel's family
Would be the ultimate revenge for Johnny. Daniel stole Ali? Well how does this feel
Daniel becomes so lonely he digs up Mr. Miyagi's corpse and takes it back to his new creepy studio/efficiency apartment so he has a buddy to talk to
Something dark and interesting like this

Educational videos regarding work space safety. One of the few shows that I can still laugh hysterically over no matter how many times I've seen the episode......

Finished Cobra Kai season 3. Well, I enjoyed the heck out of it and it's one of those rare shows that gets everything right. The events of the original movies are nicely incorporated and it flows with the story.
I was reading through the blu-ray.com forums and came across an interesting interpretation that nobody is born a villain and how they are affected by the enviornment they grew up in. Those Kreese flashbacks highlight this and Tory's problems at home.
IMO, this is one of greatest shows of all time. I can't wait to see where the story goes.

If you saw KK3 - apparently Terry Silver (the greatest character in cinema history) and Mike Barnes are coming back

At the risk of being labeled a nerd by the d00ds on this board, The Mandalorian season 2. Only have the finale left, although I already know what happens. Just have to see how it happens.

I gotta catch up on that still. Watched the first 2 when they first came out but haven't kept up. I'm not particularly into star wars, but I liked the last season. It feels sorta like an old fashioned series, but it also has super high production values. It was cool.

My brother recently re-watched all five Die Hard movies in sequence, and while talking about them with him I felt like watching the fifth installment again, the only one of the series that I haven’t watched multiple times and the only one that I remember disliking. So that’s what I did last night.
I remembered the basics of the plot: John McClane goes to Russia to help his son who got in trouble there, ignoring that he is a CIA agent involved in an operation that involves double-crossing and triple-crossing and quadruple-crossing. They cause a lot of destruction in Moscow, and then head to Chernobyl for the final confrontation with the bad guys. What I didn’t remember was just HOW BAD the whole thing was. The plot doesn’t make a lot of sense, the action is way over the top, and what is supposed to be humorous banter doesn’t work either.
If demolition derbies are your thing, you might enjoy the first half hour. If not, there is nothing of value here. If and when I ever do a Die Hard marathon, I will certainly stop at #4.
