Watched the Taken trilogy. The first one was quite good. The last 2 was a bit over the top silly, but entertaining.

If you don't like the first Taken, no reason to watch the later one. I did like the first one, a very typical Liam Neeson action movie like Nonstop, Commuter, etc. which I generally enjoy. The others went a bit too far and very poorly written, too much editing. I can imagine people can get seasick in the theater. Lots of mindless action for entertainment if one does not think deep about the stupid unconvincing circumstances.

Oh no, I loved Taken. One of those movies I saw in the theater and couldn't wait to buy it as soon as it became available. I just thought the sequels looked lame and I'd be better off watching the original again and again. "You know, we used to outsource this kind of thing..."

8pm - ABC
Will be recording (to watch tomorrow) -
Attack on the Capitol: The Investigation - An ABC News Special
'Coverage of the Jan. 6 committee hearings; David Muir leads the coverage, alongside ABC New's political team.'
The GOP is calling it a smear campaign since Biden's approval #s are down and are questioning why there isn't a special on about gas prices and inflation
Color me intrigued - I regarded Jan. 6th as one of the saddest days in our nation's history

I watched “I Am Thinking of Ending Things”, the latest movie by Charlie Kaufman. Charlie Kaufman, for those who may not know, is the screenwriter who gave us “Being John Malkovich”, “Adaptation” and “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”, among others. He also wrote AND directed “Synecdoche, New York” and the animated movie “Anomalisa”, which I haven’t seen. This is only his third movie as a director.
The story starts with a couple driving out to the country for the girl to meet his parents for the first time. The guy is played by Jesse Plemons and the girl by Jessie Buckley. But something is not right – not in a horror movie kind of way, more in a psychological drama way. Slowly things become increasingly surreal, as might be expected from this particular director.
I really liked it, but I can see how many viewers might be turned off by the craziness (on the surface) of what we see on the screen. It is not easy to understand what it all means, and I confess that I had to read up on it after I finished watching for things to click fully.
Anyway, if you like Charlie Kaufman, I recommend it. If you are just looking for light entertainment that can be watched with your brain in Off, keep looking!

If you are just looking for light entertainment that can be watched with your brain in Off, keep looking! I watched this a few months ago and I feel the exact same way. The movie really crystalized for me after I, like you, read up on it afterwards, as it's loaded with literacy references and allegories that are sometimes apparent but other times rather esoteric. You're right, this is not an easy Friday evening watch, but anything written by Charlie Kaufman is appointment viewing for this guy. Side note, I randomly watched an episode of Breaking Bad with young Jesse Plemons. He was skinny as anything in that show, and then he just ballooned up, and stayed ballooned up. I wonder if there's something more there, but he has really put together a nice little career for himself since BB.

Elvis movie “Tickle me”. Standard Elvis heroics. Didn’t really recognise any of the songs but still enjoyed them. His main squeeze in the film is English actress Jocelyn Lane, billed as Jackie Lane. Major League hottie … she gives Ann Margaret a run for her money. www.vintag.es/2020/02/jocelyn-lane.html

Some of them are good fun e.g. Love Me Tender, Jailhouse Rock, Viva Las Vegas, King Creole.

Ohhhhhhh. What have we here. This sounds like a good one. Free Horror via Showtime Immanence (2022) - 'Radio astronomers discover a signal in the deep sea that could be contact with extraterrestrials' 3.3/10 IMDB Score / Doesn't seem to have a Rotten Tomato Score yet Let's Give It A Whirl!

I sometimes watch movies with a low score on IMDb, like a 4.7 or something - but 3.3? You are a glutton for punishment, aren’t you?

More like 9.3 Loved it!
One of the most original movies I've ever seen
The age old debate of:
Science vs. God
And I'm 'Team God' Baby! (I'll pray for the majority here who aren't)
Here's the plot - Comet goes into the Bermuda Triangle. Some scientists go out there on a boat thinking aliens are trying to communicate with them. However the Captain's shipmate thinks differently. He thinks it's God who is trying to communicate with them.
I'm not going to spoil it. It's got an absolutely delicious plot twist. Remember how in Freddy vs. Jason - Freddy sent Jason to remind everybody about him so people would remember him? It's kind of like that. Awesome flick - can't recommend this lil baby enough - what a gem!

Been MIA from this thread for a while...
About a month ago, I watched the 11 Star Wars movies. The originals are timeless, the prequels aren't perfect but decent enough, and I don't know if time will be kind to the sequel trilogy. I don't hate them like everyone else on earth apparently, but this last viewing had me not liking them as much as before.
Watching Season 4 of Stranger Things. Watching ep 4 right now. Not bad so far.
Watched the 6 Jurassic movies, including Dominion today. Not as bad as you have likely heard, but I highly recommend waiting for streaming. Not worth watching it in theaters, even with the bigger screen, better sound, etc. Kinda nuts how nearly 30 years and now 5 movies later the original is still the best.

Only six 30 min episodes per season, so quite quick to binge through if you did. Seems to have gone from dark comedy to just plain dark now mind you!
