awesome news. ABC has announced they're doing a reboot on The Wonder Years. Always had a crush on Winnie Cooper. Watching some Wonder Years clips on Youtube Is it still going to take place in the same time period or are they updating it?

I enjoyed the relationship between DeNiro and Pacino in Heat.
One Bad Guy vs. One Good Guy
But was one really 'Bad' and was one really 'Good'?
Good and bad in terms of how we label them in society - thief and cop; however what type of person is each inside down deep - which is why I really loved the Diner Scene how they came to have a mutual respect for each other.
The ending of Heat is one of my favorite endings of All-Time when Pacino reaches out to hold DeNiro's hand - that along with the closing musical score gave me chills.
Almost everything about Heat is great. Every character gets a backstory. The friggin' getaway driver who gets unceremoniously capped has a compelling story. The only real negatives I can think of are Pacino's occasional (but when he goes for it, he really goes for it) overacting and the braindead chick as De Niro's love interest. Not a well written character at all. Other than that, the movie is just awesome. I'm not a huge Heat fan, but I recognize I'm in the vast minority. I'll reserve my criticisms but I do want to agree with your take on Amie Brenneman's character, Edie. I haven't seen Heat in a while, but if memory serves, when they first meet, he's reading about precious metals, and he basically insults her when she starts asking questions in a friendly/neighborly manner. There is no way, in 1,000 lifetimes, that she'd be into him after that initial 30 second encounter.

The fact that every other character in the film is so nuanced makes it that much more jarring.

Currently watching Gentlemen Of Fortune (1971. Has started well. The Russians know how to make comedy movies of high class. Rated 8.5 on IMDB.

Sounds like something I would enjoy. The local library has it on Blu-Ray, so I will make a point of watching it some time in the not too distant future.

I watched "Black Sea" (2014), with Jude Law. He plays a submariner who's hired for a secretive salvage job - retrieve Nazi gold from a sunken WWII-era U-Boat in the Black Sea. To that goal, a Soviet-era practically derelict submarine is acquired and a half-British half-Russian crew is put together. Obviously not everything goes according to plan, otherwise it would have been a pretty boring movie.
I like a good submarine movie, so when I saw it on Netflix I immediately put it on my list. I can recommend it for fans of this particular sub-genre. If that's not you, my thumbs are firmly in a horizontal position.

So far I have seen their comedies and war movies and I have not been disappointment. There's so much to explore in world cinema.

Revisiting one of the funniest comedies of All-Time
Strangers With Candy
46 year old self proclaimed boozer and former loser Jerri Blank gets out of the joint and goes back to high school where she tries to fit in and craves being popular - experiencing all the horrors a typical teenage kid goes through in high school - only she's 30 years older than everybody else.
Stephen Colbert is absolutely hysterical.

There is also the scene where a compartment is flooding and one guy manages to escape and lock the door behind him. After I watched the movie I checked comments and discussions and it turns out that one of the major plot points is so preposterous that it ruined the movie for a lot of people. I had thought it a bit far-fetched as I was watching it, but I was able to suspend disbelief and keep enjoying it.

I've been on a string of stinkers recently. Watched the Penelope Spheeris (not Eric Bogosian) Suburbia (1983). I wasn't expecting high art, but I was expecting better. Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers is the best actor in the movie, which tells you all you need to know. The movie is sexist, racist, and homophobic within the first ten minutes of the movie - - and that's from the "good guys". Awful performances and a plot where you can see everything happen three minutes before it does. She should have stuck to doing documentaries about punk rock rather than fiction about it.
