Well, for whatever it's worth, I do like Rufus-T. Thanks klawrencio79. Likewise. Let's go Mets! I like to see a subway WS. I'll take another week of the season before it goes bye-bye forever. Yankees are a good bet to reach the WS!

If the Miami/Phillies thing got out of hand, the season might be over before the NBA season resume. I am usually an optimistic person, but this year has been a trying one.

As a slave to (my wife's) opinion, the places where I wear them has dramatically dwindled and I've only bought non-cargo shorts for the last two years. It got connected to dads - - and dads are now universally seen as being dorky. I think they are now considered to be the equivalent of mom jeans. Makes sense. What about for people like me who don't have kids? Cargo shorts should be fair game, dammit! Although my wife did shame me for wearing Costco jeans years ago when we were dating and bought me a pair of expensive jeans. I ridiculed her mercilessly but when I put on the nice pair, I hated admitting how much more comfortable they were and better fitting. I think 75% of my shorts are now from Costco (not Costco brand, but from there). With a 9- and a 5-year-old changing sizes every nine months, clothing for Dad falls way down the scale of importance.

See - I'm the reverse - I view the 'Docker Shorts' that aren't cargos as 'Old Man' shorts.
Like the ones you see pro golfers wearing.
I've got a lot of them too - but never wear them.
Figure I'll wear them if I reach my 90s.
Whoa, whoa, whoa - - I said "dad", not "old man".

Now see.
That 2nd pic is a big fashion faux pas -
You never - and I mean ever - tuck a t-shirt into your cargo shorts.

Anyway....
I watched King of Staten Island yesterday, the Judd Apataw/Pete Davidson movie. If you can get past how impossibly annoying Davidson is, this movie does have a good bit of heart mostly in the 2nd half. It's a bit indulgently long and there's a ton of fat that probably should have been trimmed, but a bit of self-reflecting, good feelings is something we can probably all use these days. Plus, the supporting cast is excellent, led by Marissa Tomei, Bill Burr and Steve Buscemi. Not the best movie I've seen, but worth a watch if you want a few laughs and an overall life-affirming movie.
I also started watching Dark. I won't visit the other thread about it for fear of spoilers but I was interested in this when it first came out, just never got around to it. I'm 3 episodes in and aside from having a little difficulty understand exactly who everyone is and their relationships to one another, I'm very intrigued as to where this will go.

I woke up with a body ache and a headache. I will inform my senior that I won't be working today and see a good movie or two. Jep Gambardella I remember you have seen quite a few Korean films. Would it be worthwhile to spend time on The Chaser (2008)? I feel very lazy today. Carl LaFong It seems my fears have come true. A couple of years ago I wrote a thread what happens when you finish most good movies ever made of one particular genre. I had seen most of British village horror/ Vampire stuff and always felt bad that not many more Brit horror of my taste are available for me. And I just fell on a random movie list of noir movies and I happen to have already seen 39 of 41 movies mentioned in that list. So it seems it's not a good idea to greedily focus on one particular genre. We should save some for future!

Cleveland is 4-1 and tied for first in the AL. Can they carry this momentum all the way to October? Stayed tuned, folks! (?)
Also watching Bob’s Burgers and Samurai Jack. Bout to binge some anime once I’m done with those two. Haven’t decided which one I should binge first.

I’m not sure if you posted about her CV test result. I watched a Hammer movie last night, Paranoiac. www.imdb.com/title/tt0057401/reference/I sent away for the blu-Ray the other day because it’s based on the book Brat Farrar which I just finished reading. Good book but the film takes a lot of liberties with the plot. Still worth a watch to see Ollie Reed chewing the scenery!

My memory of "The Chaser" is of a high-octane thriller that made the crowd go wild when I watched it during the Fantasia film festival here in Montreal. I don't remember much about the plot, but yes, it will probably be worth your while.

Last week I took advantage of Barnes & Noble 50% off sale of Criterion titles and bought a few new films for my collection. One of them was “The Heiress” (William Wyler, 1949), a movie that I had never heard about. It looked interesting, it had Olivia de Havilland and Montgomery Clift, it won a handful of Oscars (including a Best Actress one for Olivia de Havilland), so for half price I figured it would be a worthy addition to my collection. Then a few days later Olivia de Havilland dies at 104. I figured it was my duty to watch the movie soon rather than years later which is what I (unfortunately) normally do with most of the movies I buy. So I watched it yesterday. I loved it! It’s a drama taking place among the high society of mid-19th century New York. Olivia de Havilland plays a wealthy young woman who can’t seem to attract any suitors, until she meets and falls hopelessly in love with a handsome man (Montgomery Clift) who takes an interest in her. But is he truly in love with her, or is he a gold-digger?

Mum miraculously avoided contracting the virus in spite of being exposed to a total of around 7 hours in contact with a Corona positive person. Her assistant had been helping her lately as her lead assistant in most of her cases and he was identified +. She is fine. That looks like a good Hammer movie. I haven't seen that one but won't mind seeing that. In my line-up for this Saturday is The Enforcer (1951). One of the few Bogey movies that I had saved for future viewing.

Paranoia is OK, but certainly not top notch Hammer. Worth a look ... and only 80 minutes. Had the same sort of vibe as Scream of Fear from 1961. I’ve seen the Enforcer. In fact I watched it again a few months ago ... good little noir. Enjoy!

Japanese horror movie, House (1977) about a group of schoolgirls who visit a haunted house. Very weird, but quite funny in parts (intentionally so.) The lead actress is cute:

I am so happy to have hockey back. I watched the Leafs/Canadiens exxy game last night.
When things get going for the tourney on Saturday, I will be watching Canadiens/Penguins. Likely be a short series as I don't think the Canadiens match up with the Penguins.
Even when the Canadiens are eliminated, I'll probably watch quite a bit of the tournament.
I've also been watching the Toronto Blue Jays. The series against Washington, they have started at 6:00, which is perfect for me. I can watch the game while having dinner.
When the play-in tourney for the NBA starts, I may watch more basketball, too - even though my Detroit Pistons aren't in it. The Toronto Raptors are, though.

NatGeo: Shark Movers: Deadly Cargo
On a side note-
There's been numerous shark sighting up and down New Jersey. Great White a couple of miles off of Atlantic City. Think they're traveling north to feed on the seal population in Chatham, Mass.
A New York woman was just killed by a Great White off of Maine. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong - I think it's the first deadly Great White Shark attack off of Maine in history.
She was only 60 feet from shore and with her daughter. Kayakers went out to retrieve her body.
