I ain't racist and I ain't stupid, I'm just supporting the President in a very dark time. And I don't think he's perfect by any means, but I also think he's doing as good of a job on this as anyone could ask for. And guess what? Many other Americans are feeling the same way. Over 60% are approving of the job he is doing during this crisis. The death rate around the world is 4%, in the United States we are still at 1%. You think his remarks about wanting everyone out working in 2 weeks are responsible? More optimistic than anything else.

You think his remarks about wanting everyone out working in 2 weeks are responsible? More optimistic than anything else. I've been wanting to ask a Trump supporter this question. As recently as a few weeks ago he was insisting he wasn't worried about the virus, and that the virus would 'disappear' soon. By the end of last week he was saying he 'always knew it would be bad...before anyone was using the word pandemic.' So my question to you is, which time was he lying? Because those are completely contradictory statements. The real answer of course is that he was lying in both instances, but either way you have to admit he was being untruthful with one of those statements. Which one is it? My follow up question would be, how is making false statements that threaten the lives of countless Americans doing a good job? He told the American people everything would be fine and they should go about their business as usual. People are dying. People were dying around the world when he made those statements. How is that doing a good job? A few more follow up questions: How many Americans would you estimate have died because Trump misled them about the threat level of this virus? How many Americans have to die before you give up your blind loyalty to this selfish, egomaniacal prick? This isn't about partisan politics so don't bring up parties (of which I am not a member), Hillary, Biden, Bernie, 'libs', or the media. This is specifically about the President of the United States lying to the public about a pandemic.

The man knowingly spread misinformation that put countless American lives (and I keep using the word countless because again, the medical community stretched beyond its capacity endangers everyone, not just Covid-19 sufferers) at risk. It's sheer madness to say he's doing a good job under the circumstances when he helped create the circumstances to begin with.

His braindead supporters will obey, and spread the plague amongst each other like wildfire. Then go home and give it to all their pals. That will thin their numbers out considerably, whilst sensible people tell him to fuck off, and stay safe at home 👍

Once again......for at least the 9th time in this threa.......I don't blindly follow the guy without acknowledging mistakes. Not everything the guy has done has been good, not everything he has done has been bad. I can say this 1000 times and I will still be labeled a racist moron by folks who's minds are closed tighter than bear traps. Two years ago, his administration took lots of funding from the CDC, of course now that seems moronic but no one had any idea that something like this would happen. Bad move. He treated this lightly as first in his words, and if that caused folks not to wash their hands, then yeah okay. Another bad move. Let's talk about some good things he has done. How bout closing travel to and from China in late January? Truthfully, it was probably a tacky move to spite China at the time, but do you have any idea how worse this would be if we had had free travel between the 2 countries during the month of February? And once we had our first deaths from this, he shut down travel to and from Europe, which has probably saved many lifes. You guys act like if Trump wasn't President, that this virus would have magically skipped the United States, which is dumber than anything Trump has ever said. This is a tidal wave that is sweeping the entire world, and no matter who was in the White House, this country was gonna get nailed hard. Overall, I give Trump a B so far on how this has been handled. Once again....once again.....the death rate so far in this country is still much lower than the rest of the world.....yet we hear not a blip of criticism for leaders of countries like Italy, Spain, or even friggin China. Only Trump gets heat. Only Trump gets blamed. Things are slowly getting better in places like China, South Korea, even Italy. Things are gonna get worse here, and then get better. Rail on Trump all you want, just wash your hands while you are doing it, ok?

Congratulations....what a fucking perfect Trumpian thing to say. Congratulations on pissing in the ocean, which is all this stimulus will amount to.

That doesn't change the fact that Trump told people it wasn't going to be a problem. He assured the American public it was 'just a flu' and that it would 'disappear' soon. There's no way that didn't have an effect on how people prepared for the outbreak, how seriously they took the threat to public health. Then when things started to go south, which was inevitable, he did what he always does, he fucking lied about it. "I always knew it was bad." That's not what you told us, Mr. President! All that and you didn't answer any of my questions. Which of the two instances do you admit he lied to the people? How many people would you estimate he put at risk (I'll spoil it, all of us) when he told us we had nothing to worry about? How many people have to die because of his stupidity before you admit he's a terrible leader? Stop deflecting. Spain, Italy, China, they have their own problems worthy of criticism if you want to start another conversation. I specifically asked about Trump because I'm a US citizen and I was lied to about a public health risk of an unimaginable scale.

And I don't consider a 2 trillion dollar stimulus plan "pissing in the ocean". I know this is a social media site that is mainly populated by nerdy kids, but there are some adults here, right? You, Millar, depending on a few factors, will get $1,200 or $2,400, plus an additional $500 per child if you have any. Now me, I’m fortunate enough to have an employer paying me throughout this crisis. Same for my wife. But millions of people aren’t that lucky. Do you reasonably think that $2,400 will last a family longer than a month tops? What happens on, say, May 1? Is there going to be another trillion dollar plan when this virus doesn’t magically go away as quickly as Trump says it will?

You never did answer my questions because the answers are too embarrassing to admit. That's the best defense you can muster, "You shouldn't listen to Trump!" I couldn't agree more. Should they have a 30 trillion dollar package? Where does that money come from? Everything right now, even government decisions, are on a day to day, week to week scale. Let's get to May 1, see where we are at, and go from there. I'm actually optimistic that by May, we may be seeing this thing starting to tone down, as we are seeing in China and South Korea. Wishful thinking probably, but I believe hopeful thoughts sure beat negative ones.

No, I don't. Do I think he didn't treat this as seriously as he should have? Yes, for a little while, but I think he got serious about it pretty quickly. Would I support the President in this situation, ANY President btw? You bet your ass I would, it's what good Americans do, pal. And if you want to continue to have a real discussion with me on these things, don't quote a Star Wars character. Kind of hard to take you seriously when you're telling me what Yoda would do.

Kind of hard to take any Trump supporter seriously so at least we're on common ground. I'd vote for Jar Jar Binks before I'd vote for Trump. 'Good Americans' don't blindly support leaders who endanger them for no reason other than greed or vanity. That's one of the dumbest comments I've ever seen on this board. How far does your head have to be up your ass to think that way? The fact that you're in denial about his lying says it all. He's made two contradictory statements. Even if your argument is that he was just ignorant rather than deceitful when he said it was a flu and everyone would be fine, by definition you have to acknowledge his statement that he 'always knew it was bad' is a lie. If he knew it was bad, why did he tell us everything was fine? Please explain this to somebody who quotes Star Wars.

Okay dude, there's only one solution for a limited mind like yours, so here it goes..... Trump is a liar, Trump is a fraud, Trump is deliberately killing innocent people, Trump supporters (or anyone who supports the President in a time of crisis) are all ignorant racist inbred hicks, ORANGE MAN BAD!!!! Now just make sure you wash your hands and do the right things we all have to do to get through this. I can't, and won't say anything more to you on the subject from here on in. As you celebrate "breaking me down", wash your hands again. Peace.

Ironically, no more embarrassing than the stuff you freely admitted. You're an authoritarian, you'd rather be told what to do than think for yourself. You think the president should be supported no matter what in troubled times; it's ludicrous and frankly, unamerican. This conversation was destined to go nowhere from the beginning, I just wanted to hear it from the horse's mouth.
Trump supporters will defend him to death (quite literally in this case), no matter how dark a path he treads.

Two years ago, his administration took lots of funding from the CDC, of course now that seems moronic but no one had any idea that something like this would happen. Bad move. He treated this lightly as first in his words, and if that caused folks not to wash their hands, then yeah okay. Another bad move.A lot of people saw this coming. When his administration disbanded the pandemic response team, there were quite a few articles in 2018 detailing why it was a mistake and how a viral pandemic was the biggest health risk to the USA. I could link you to a few of those (not that it would change your mind.) Let's talk about some good things he has done. How bout closing travel to and from China in late January? Truthfully, it was probably a tacky move to spite China at the time, but do you have any idea how worse this would be if we had had free travel between the 2 countries during the month of February? But people were still coming from China to America. Americans in China. And because of that ban, they all jam-packed airports together to get back as quickly as possible. So his ban didn't really do a single lick of good when you think of it like that. I could link you a few articles from January (not that it would change your mind.) And once we had our first deaths from this, he shut down travel to and from Europe,Same song, different verse. A little bit louder and a little bit worse. This is a tidal wave that is sweeping the entire world, and no matter who was in the White House, this country was gonna get nailed hard. You are saying this in hindsight. Did you believe this to be true when Trump was telling American citizens that there was nothing to worry about? I could link you a few "fake news main stream media overreactions" from the same time frame (not that it would change your mind. ) Overall, I give Trump a B so far on how this has been handled. Once again....once again.....the death rate so far in this country is still much lower than the rest of the world.....Things are slowly getting better in places like China, South Korea, even Italy. You are giving a grade based on an assignment that is 25% completed. China's first death was reported on January 11. The US' first death was over a month and a half after that! You are ignoring that to help your argument. And China DRAGGED INFECTED PEOPLE AWAY FROM THEIR FAMILIES, Italy shut down cities, South Korea basically tested anyone who was ever even close to someone who tested positive, and France imposed a nationwide lockdown. So I would hope those measures are helping. Now... did the United States do anything like that? I could link you to some articles (not that it would change your mind.) TL: DR - TRUMP FUCKED US (not that this changes your mind.)
