I feel so stupid but I never thought my store would be out of peanut butter.
It makes sense especially with school out. But I never thought about it until I saw empty shelves.
What surprised you?
EDIT I got my peanut butter today 3/24

pickled okra and I had such a taste for Talk o' Texas mild okra pickles (they still had the hot). My local Publix was totally out of toilet paper, paper towels, liquid hand soap and sanitizer (they had a lot of bar soap which is just as good if not better) rice, Stouffers family size dinners and Tylenol. I got paper towels at Big Lots and Family Dollar, with 7 cats I use a lot of paper towels, you don't want to use cloth towels when cleaning up the 3 P's of cat ownership.(Poop, Puke, and Piss).

I couldn't find yogurt. People are hoarding it? Why? I didn't find outages of milk type products but that would be odd. Guess people want to make sure they have probiotics?? Hope you have better luck next visit

For crying out loud... These have one purpose in life, to embellish the humble hamburger, and I fancied making some on Friday. In the store I got the meat no problem, I got the buns no problem but when I went to the cheese section this product had sold out, gone, in fact almost the entire cheese section had been ransacked but for a few packets of sliced Edam and some grated mature cheddar. So I got the cheddar and sprinkled it heartily over the pates when they were almost done in the pan. It tasted very good and added a nice kick to the hamburger, I must say. T

no ground beef, shortages of milk and eggs. forget finding toilet paper, kleenex, paper towels, lysol anything, hand sanitizer. Also, the first week -- potatoes, carrots, onions, frozen any vegetable (except brussels sprouts - lots of those!), canned vegetables, canned beans.

Distilled water, but I guess there's lots of us with sleep machines.
Haven't been to a store in a while, and got lots of what I needed at Trader Joe's last week. For some reason they were out of a lot of unsalted and unsalted/roasted nuts and nut butters. I bought raw nuts and will roast them myself. Bought creamy (blecch) unsalted peanut butter - out of crunchy.
I thought I was almost out of sesame oil, but voila - I found an unopened liter bottle! Also realized I can use the Dr. Bronner peppermint soap that's in the shower for any other soap need - hand, dish, etc.

He lives in Contra Costa county (near your old stomping grounds) Last week he stood in line an hour outside the TJ's store Finally he left. He went back and shopped two days later. Nuts do seem in high demand. Lol Good luck

I was last at both Walmart and Shoprite about 10 days ago. What surprised me was no eggs, because they usually have lots and lots. Was it from people buying crazily or maybe the egg section coolers broke down? I don't know. What pisses me off about this Walmart is that even before the virus craze they would be out of certain items I buy regularly, and also stuff I never buy..I'd be going past an aisle and there would be massive empty parts of aisles.I think it's just a poorly managed store. I'm due to go there later this week for insulin, but that too is something that runs out regularly,as it's a non prescription version so they can't hold it for me like a script type...that cost 5 times as much. Shoprite too runs out of stuff, but mostly sale items. Wadda ya gonna do ?

Well,I had to go to walmart today (I hate shopping, especially with all this virus shit going on) I called this am re my insulin pens and they were out,but expecting a shipment at 3pm.Called back then and they had 'em so off I went. They had hand soap, not the big refill I usually buy,but one, 1!,softsoap brand little pump jar so I grabbed it,$1.98.I was maybe 3 feet ahead of a lady who wanted the same thing. She said 'I'll give you four dollars for it'. I thought she was joking until she reached for her purse. Now Iv'e been using body wash for hand washing for over a week now,so I didn't want to give it up so I shook my head no.She said 5,I shook no,6,nah,10.10 bucks for a 2 buck item? Damn.I shoulda asked for a hundred just to see a reaction, but I didn't.I told her that anti bacterial doesn't affect a virus, blah blah, use body wash instead, blah blah.I kinda felt bad,but hey, survival of the fittest and all that. So,what was surprising? Cereal.I was gonna get the store version of cheerios, the only cereal I eat.da da da da....empty.The entire aisle of cereal, hot and cold,empty.Barren.While I stood there for a minute or two contemplating the existential dilemma of such a situation a couple more folks stopped at the end of the aisle and grunted or said huh and the 3 or 4 of us stood together hands on chins for a bit,too close together by the standards of the plague rules and just pondered.... What else.No eggs still. No powdered coffee creamer of any sort.Very little coffee.Toilet paper, but only those new mega rolls too big for our old holder, and only in like 8 million roll packages. Milk, but only gallons and I usually buy halves. They did have bottled water and it was flying off the shelf,no easy feat as 40 16.9 bottles of water weigh about 42 lbs (calculated via calculator),a bit much for an old broken down body like mine to lift, let alone fly....like an eagle da da da...Steve Miller flies into my head.... I'm joker i'm a toker i'm a...nevermind. Probably other stuff but I'm done for now.
Edit: Oh yeah, the liquor store was open so I got a couple jugs of vodka to disinfect my soul...
