....trying to distance themselves from the legacy of the late Robert Osborne ?? Obviously, the man is gone, and can no longer be featured on the channel, but given how synonymous he became with Turner Classic Movies, and that he appeared in SO many 'special' features, you would think just by chance that he would show up much more than the few times he actually has, and that there might have been a MUCH greater effort made in celebrating his OUTSTANDING legacy with the channel, rather than just move on without (seemingly) really appreciating all the good things he did with, and for them..... Am I WAY off on this, or has anyone else gotten a similar impression ?? SAVE FERRIS

I'm sorry. I just do not watch TCM that often. I am sure there is a reasonable explanation that you could find online somewhere. I'm sure that others share that same concern as you.

Not really a concern, just something that seemed to suddenly leap out at me not too long after he died. For somebody who's 'fingerprints' were ALL OVER the channel while he was still alive and active, it's AMAZING (to me, anyway) how noticeably quickly they seemed to remove (almost) all traces of the man from the channel..... SAVE FERRIS I have no idea. Why would there be a need to air old footage of Robert Osborne? It still TCM with or without him. I know I enjoyed all of the contribution of Robert Osborne.

Why would there be a need to air old footage of Robert Osborne? Because his introductions were better than the new replacement ones ?

Because his family gets residuals if they show him? That's my guess.

He's dead, and yes he was a major part of TCM . . . but Mankowicz is doing a fine job, along with Alicia Malone and Dave Karger, and I love Eddie Muller with noir films. Also, Jaqueline Stewart with the silent.s. Move on.

I think I have watched TCM since his death and it took me a moment to adjust to their new image. That isn't why I don't watch that network anymore. TCM may have a link where viewers can leave comments or suggestions. It's not what I do, but maybe doing that would make you feel like a part of the process?

I never got that impression. Some of the presenters I like such as Ben Mankiewicz whenever he shows up, Eddie Bunker whose focus on film noir I do find interesting, or Alicia Malone who's ever so charming ( ).

msdemosIt's a sign of the times when they fix what wasn't broken with new announcers/commentators. The films have not changed, no reason to change the commentary part .. (imo) fwiw.... I have many a classic film still on VHS from when I saw TCM via an a la carte subscription on a 12 ft DISH …. The Osborne comments are / were so entertaining I always re-watch them …

I miss Robert Osborne. He gave wonderful introduction before the film and summary after the film, and all the trivia. He was the Casey Kasem of classic films.
