At 1:30 AM, EDT, TCM is presenting the 1964 film One Potato, Two Potato. Starring Barbara Barrie and Bernie Hamilton, it focuses on an interracial romance between a white divorcee with a young daughter and an African-American man. When the little girl's biological father (Richard Mulligan) finds out, he sues the ex-wife for custody of the child. This film apparently was never released on home video, which is a shame, because it's a well-made, powerful independent film dealing with subject matter that Hollywood was still shying away from in the 1960s. Unlike films such as Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, it portrays the interracial relationship honestly, without the upbeat sermonizing and contrivances of the Poitier film which make that movie seem dated. It's a more genuine reflection of the attitudes of that era which still exist to an extent in this era. Watch it if you can.

Thanks for the heads-up, Marianne.
Haven't seen it since its theatrical release, but remember it well.
