It's weird but i almost never look at the director. I look for actors i recognize and then check what the movie is about and if sounds interesting and it's what i'm in the mood for.

How much importance do you put on the following when deciding if you're going to watch it? Director Producer screenwriter lead actor New & unseen? 1. Director... 2. Actor... 3. Producer... & 4. Screenwriter. Halloween 2018 & Terminator 2019, I went because Carpenter & Cameron's producing. Of my DVDs/Blus to re-watch… usually actor &/or director only.

New movies...
1. Director 2. Lead actor 3. Screenwriter 4. Producer
In that order. If it’s a director I like I’ll watch it regardless...if not then I look to the leading cast. Screenwriters after that and I almost never care about producers.

I tend to mostly go by the following four categories...
-Subject Matter -Director -Cast -Trailer
some of those are not always a factor though given name directors are not always making movies.
but strictly on the OP's choices... I tend to think Director is #1 with Cast being #2. because I tend to affiliate Director with movie quality in general as they seem to be at the core of whether something will work or not. but like I said above, decent name directors are not always a factor on movies in general since there are not too many with a decent name in directing in general.

What I'm in the mood for is the most important factor for me when it comes to picking a movie.

I try to watch different genres so I'm not watching 6 westerns or horror movies in a week. When watching foreign films try to watch films from different countries each week so I'm not just watching a bunch of French or Italian movies. How I pick the exact movie is mostly based on what I'm in the mood for. I also try to watch at least one documentary each week. Makes me feel like I'm actually learning something! It's all very scientific.

If I find the premise intriguing and the trailer is solid, I'm in. Everything else can raise or lower my expectations, but so-and-so directing, starring, writing, etc. isn't going to be the deciding factor; even in the case of my favorites in any of those professions.

Mainly just director, if it's a director I'm not familiar with, usually subject matter. Actor I usually use more for what not to watch. Screenwriter would come into it rarely and producer almost never.
