2/10. Not only one of the worst horror movies I've ever seen, but also one of the worst films PERIOD that I've seen in recent years. Wasn't scared once. The characters aren't the least bit likeable, in fact I despised them, which only made me cheer for the monster. Kinda defeats the purpose of a horror film since you can't fear the monster if you're cheering for it. Plus like most modern horror films, it just couldn't resist ending on a cheap jump scare.
Side note: I've noticed I seem to be the only one on this board who was putting deadlines on his polls, so I've decided to cease doing that.

I have to admit that I enjoyed this one, mainly for the concept of portraying the entire story on a computer screen. 6/10.

I believe I enjoyed it more than Open Windows (2014).

8/10, good movie with unrealistic ending. There are even better webcam horror movies called The Den (2013) and Megan Is Missing (2011).

I liked the style but not much substance at all.

8/10 That's generous but I enjoyed it. I liked the style, and I think if it adds to the conversation about cyberbullying, that's a good thing. Worst part: when one of them asked what a troll is. Come on, son.

I wouldn't blame you if you assumed that UNFRIENDED was going to represent the bottom of the cinematic barrel. I did. I mean, a horror movie shown as a video chat? It was done in a segment of V/H/S PART 1 and in certain scenes of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY PART 4, but it didn't feel like a concept that would work from beginning to end. It worked in an episode of MODERN FAMILY and every episode of WEB THERAPY, but those are comedies. It seemed hard to take seriously in a horror movie. Not to mention that those episodes lasted 20 minutes, not 80. Well, I deserve to have my Skype account deleted as punishment for being wrong! You see, horror has a lot to do with timing. Elements have to appear during specific moments at a specific speed. Here, I was on the edge on my seat almost from beginning to end. Too bad that the crucial scenes (each character's death) have lame jump scares. Most plot twists are predictable and the message is too heavy-handed, but I still cared about the characters. I'm not sure if it counts as a found footage movie but, if it does, it's one of the most realistic ones. I never questioned the logic of the presentation ("How was the footage found?"; "Why don't they turn off the camera/computer?"; etc...). It also does a great job recreating how computers and social networks function. It kind of forces you to watch it in theatres, TV or DVD, because you won't know if the character's chat windows' glitches are on purpose or the result of your computer, phone or tablet malfunctioning. Well, except whenever 2 or more of the windows appear at the same time (they don't all have the same weak connection). 8/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog.
