...during isolation? I did, on Thursday, from a large, independent market. They were swamped, so I knew that the delivery wouldn't arrive until yesterday (Saturday). A couple of neighbors say that they might keep doing it, because it's so convenient. I'm certainly happy to have the option, but I look forward to being able - and comfortable - to going out, myself. I ordered a whole chicken, which I'll cut up today. And, I'll portion out the 2 lbs. of ground beef into 1/2 lbs., then freeze all but whatever chicken "part" I want tonight. I got broccoli, Brussels sprouts, potatoes and lemons. That was more expensive than I would have paid at my local produce stores, but I won't be picky. Online, they asked if I would accept substitutions for items they had run out of ... I said yes. The only substitution I received was a can of black beans, in lieu of garbanzos. I did get the can of kidney beans that I asked for. There was also a can of smoked oysters, which I didn't order, but I like them, so there's no problem. Lastly, the eggs. I had 1/2 dozen on hand, and I clicked on the little icon that pictured a carton of a dozen. I got a "flat" of 3 dozen. I live alone. What, the hell, am I going to do with 42 eggs?? I guess I'll have to hard boil several, but I don't know how long a hard boiled egg remains "good." I've asked a couple of neighbors if they would like some, but they're not in need of any. A friend has an annual party, and asks me to do Deviled Eggs, but the party is in the late summer. I laugh, every time I open the refrigerator. Anyway, it is a nice convenience under these circumstances. This market ... probably all ... allows you to add the tip for the delivery person to your tab. And, deliveries are left on the porch. The deliverer rang the bell, and waited at a distance for me to answer the door. Strange times.

Oh, NO! I suppose I could start throwing eggs at passing cars, for entertainment. But, even though I live on a fairly busy street, "lockdown" has reduced that to a trickle. It would take forever.

Nuts, take care of yourself. But, it's sounds so exciting to be "on the road!" Any road! This does not regard your purchase of eggs divtal But I saw people buying flats of eggs. Didn't they know eggs have a relatively short life? People will be throwing away tons of eggs! As to your inadvertant purchase do you make frittatas? They are delicious. Maybe they freeze? My church has a kitchen to donate food. Wonder if somewhere near you does that? If not tell us what is the most eggs you eat in a day Lol I have never had food delivered We just now are starting mail order prescriptions.

Ooh, Enigma, I love your suggestion of donating to a food kitchen. There are so many, in town. Thanks!
I do like frittatas, and other egg dishes. But, this goes beyond my capacity.

After I wrote that divtal I thought 'getting the eggs there would be a problem ' Hope you can get them to a charity but not if it is too hard on you

Enigma, all the administrative offices of the major food banks were closed, today. I'll check tomorrow. I have to make it clear to them that I won't go to them, and ask if anyone can pick them up. I'll offer to add a monetary donation, in hopes that might sweeten the pot.
Apart from my determination to stay "in," it wouldn't be a hardship, at all. I would love to be out-and-about, as is my custom.
Thanks, again, for the suggestion. I should have thought of it.

No. I'm starting to make the list on their site, but it's seems like there are too many conditionals for everything I want. I never go into the stores without reading labels, and would not do that now or expect anyone to do anything but fast grabs.
15 jalapeno peppers, if none serranos ok, if none 7 or 8 habaneros.
2 Dave's Killer Breads (regular-sized Good Seed preferred, regular Powerseed or 21 Grain next pref, the same preference in Thin slice if that's all there is but get 3). If no Dave's Killer breads, 2 frozen Ezekial 4:9 breads with sesame seeds.
etc.

I've had this argument with numerous people.......I have NEVER had any eggs go bad..EVER....no matter how long they are in the fridge....either raw or hard boiled.
.......WITH ONE EXCEPTION>>>>>>> if they are cracked, or have even a hairline crack in them...and then store them for any length of time....then they will go bad. One of the reasons people examine the hell out of them in the store.
...and by the way, I'm 66 years old, which means I go back to the days when they delivered a square carton of 24 eggs to you ...for pennies....lol.

Can't. have to choose a time slot. Every time I try and choose one, there are no slots available at all
The stores have been dedicating their first hour to seniors and high risk people
Since I have a disability and can't drive and live with 2 seniors, I go during those hours.

I tried ordering some cat food from Amazon. My usual kinds were out of stock, but I found a few that will arrive next week. Others will be delivered by the end of the month. We're pretty well stocked on people food, but I tried to order a few things for my mom. Most things were way too expensive, others out of stock. I don't order from grocery stores. The ones closest to us don't offer that service.
As for eggs, I'm getting almost a dozen a day now that the weather is warming up. mr sunshine was taking the extras to the ladies at work, but now they all will be working from home for the near future. Don't know what I will do with the extras now.

She said it is not clear the cost and exactly what alternatives are. I.mentioned Divtals egg abundance to my daughter. She had some mix up too. Perhaps they are currently being overwhelmed??
