I tried ordering some cat food from Amazon. My usual kinds were out of stock, but I found a few that will arrive next week. Others will be delivered by the end of the month. We're pretty well stocked on people food, but I tried to order a few things for my mom. Most things were way too expensive, others out of stock. I don't order from grocery stores. The ones closest to us don't offer that service. As for eggs, I'm getting almost a dozen a day now that the weather is warming up. mr sunshine was taking the extras to the ladies at work, but now they all will be working from home for the near future. Don't know what I will do with the extras now. A food bank mssunshine? Eggs are gold now lol

No. I'm starting to make the list on their site, but it's seems like there are too many conditionals for everything I want. I never go into the stores without reading labels, and would not do that now or expect anyone to do anything but fast grabs. 15 jalapeno peppers, if none serranos ok, if none 7 or 8 habaneros. 2 Dave's Killer Breads (regular-sized Good Seed preferred, regular Powerseed or 21 Grain next pref, the same preference in Thin slice if that's all there is but get 3). If no Dave's Killer breads, 2 frozen Ezekial 4:9 breads with sesame seeds. etc. My daughter mentioned this too nj She said it is confusing what alternatives are okay. She said it is not clear the cost and exactly what alternatives are. I.mentioned Divtals egg abundance to my daughter. She had some mix up too. Perhaps they are currently being overwhelmed?? I think young people could make some money picking up things for some of us older folks stuck at home, especially if they are already going somewhere and it's just a few items. I'd like avocados, dino kale, lettuce, and mushrooms. I may put the word out on the NextDoor app.

I haven't done it yet but it is an option. You eat lots of good food nj Kale is very healthy

I understand that the healthiest vegetables are the ones that are flash frozen, but I just don't like any frozen vegetables other than corn and peas.

"I just don't like any frozen vegetables other than corn and peas."
NJ, I agree with your list, but I would include broccoli. I really think that the fresh flavor stays, after freezine.
Also: Nice of the younger people of your church.

Lithuanian bacon buns and Easter bread. The Easter bread is on the sweet side, I've only had homemade but I'm sure the bakery version is very good. I also love the round dark rye bread, its almost black in color. Lucky you. No Lithuanian bakeries in Alabama, I'm not even sure if they know what a Lithuanian is.

...during isolation? I did, on Thursday, from a large, independent market. They were swamped, so I knew that the delivery wouldn't arrive until yesterday (Saturday). A couple of neighbors say that they might keep doing it, because it's so convenient. I'm certainly happy to have the option, but I look forward to being able - and comfortable - to going out, myself. I ordered a whole chicken, which I'll cut up today. And, I'll portion out the 2 lbs. of ground beef into 1/2 lbs., then freeze all but whatever chicken "part" I want tonight. I got broccoli, Brussels sprouts, potatoes and lemons. That was more expensive than I would have paid at my local produce stores, but I won't be picky. Online, they asked if I would accept substitutions for items they had run out of ... I said yes. The only substitution I received was a can of black beans, in lieu of garbanzos. I did get the can of kidney beans that I asked for. There was also a can of smoked oysters, which I didn't order, but I like them, so there's no problem. Lastly, the eggs. I had 1/2 dozen on hand, and I clicked on the little icon that pictured a carton of a dozen. I got a "flat" of 3 dozen. I live alone. What, the hell, am I going to do with 42 eggs?? I guess I'll have to hard boil several, but I don't know how long a hard boiled egg remains "good." I've asked a couple of neighbors if they would like some, but they're not in need of any. A friend has an annual party, and asks me to do Deviled Eggs, but the party is in the late summer. I laugh, every time I open the refrigerator. Anyway, it is a nice convenience under these circumstances. This market ... probably all ... allows you to add the tip for the delivery person to your tab. And, deliveries are left on the porch. The deliverer rang the bell, and waited at a distance for me to answer the door. Strange times. i just ordered my easter ham!

Sounds like you're getting into Lithuanian cuisine - watch out, its very fattening. Lithuanians like their bread, potatoes, sour cream, farmers cheese, mushrooms, bacon, pork roast and cabbage.

I've had homemade kolaches, I usually don't like fruit fillings but I liked the raspberry and the prune kolaches the Lithuanian and Polish ladies used to make for all the weddings, showers, etc. and for holiday gifts. The bakery ones were usually too sweet but I did have some good ones from the Racine Bakery in Chicago. If you are ever in Chicago, you should stop at the Racine bakery on South Archer Av., its been around forever, they do both Lithuanian and Polish baked goods.

I tried to order some baking mixes on Amazon, but they were all out of stock. We don't eat biscuits unless we have biscuits and gravy, but my Mom wants her biscuits. I'm out of flour and shortening, so can't even make them from scratch. I did order some saltines and some snack crackers and got the last in stock. Haven't been to the grocery store in over two weeks, but am about out of a few necessities, so may have to go out this next week. I have to go out to get chicken feed anyway and will be wearing my mask.

As long as you spend $49.00, there is no shipping fee. They are running 8-10 days behind but you will get your order, I got several shipments last week, they split up my orders and have started sending straight from their various warehouses instead of accumulating them into one shipment. Good luck & stay well, I'm not even thinking of venturing out until May 1st at the earliest. WKD will be out of his bananas on Tuesday ( I bought frozen strawberries to substitute) and his chocolate milk on April 20th and he will have to go without, I have about 100 candy bars for him so he won't suffer. I think I will miss fresh salads the most, we had our last yesterday but we can eat frozen vegetables instead.
