One 20-30 hour gig shuttered, another 20 hour gig shuttered. Eligible for monthly $2000 via Canadian gov't next month. Both retail shipping/receiving leads, working in a back room I'll be back quicker than others... which might only mean May or June instead of July or August.

Per state directive from the Governor of our state, all non-essential businesses are closed. Fortunately, I am able to work from home as most of us are.

My brother lost his job at a restaurant, but thankfully got a job as assistant manager in the meat department of a grocery store. Not sure how the pay compares, but it's good news considering he found that he was ineligible for unemployment.

How is ineligible for unemployment if he lost his job from a closure or downsizing due to COVID nineteen virus? He is eligible. Better yet, why cant I access numbers and characters on my iPad?

I have in an odd way. I am retired so have not suffered financially and the government directive is that we should stay at home apart from a daily period of outdoor exercise. Boris had enough sense not to specify how long we were allowed to exercise for, so I tend to go out in the morning and potter until nightfall, which is fine except that I usually end up at my allotment.
My original idea was that I would do a bit of gardening and then start brushing up on my maths, which is crap. But all I have done so far is dig new beds, listen to Classic FM and fall asleep. My basic calculus remains very basic.

I think he didn't have enough hours worked or something. He'd been out of work for quite some time until he got that job at the restaurant.

all my paid projects, gigs, appearances and screenings got cancelled. like all. one new one came but its not going to pay out until next year and will depend on Corona getting better. So I am living out of my savings and counting days and trying to change my mode of operation to be able to provide the same services from home/alone/virtually. big challenges ahead. And dont qualify for any state support that I know of. FML . BUT as long as I am healthy its still somewhat ok.

For the next two weeks, we're only working Monday/Wednesday/Friday. However, I've been working full-time from home. I'm essentially on the front line - manning the order desk. And, I man the order desk phone for multiple branches.
I don't consider it a gyp that the branch is off Tuesday and Thursday. Honestly - I wouldn't have it any other way. If I were off, I would go stir-crazy.

I work for The State of Alaska DOT and I have the same hours but I been doing different things since we don't have to do ARFF standby since there's been less and less passenger flights coming here.

Yes, from my company. Having video conferences, doing a ton of stuff via email, electronic sharing, signing, etc.

Can’t work construction from your couch. This thing has discriminated occupations too. This virus is non-discriminating. It will hit any and everyone it can. Construction being shutdown keeps the curve of active cases from multiplying so that healthcare institutions aren't overwhelmed, and buys some time until a vaccine can be provided. Construction is the least of it. Hospitality, restaurants, vacation rentals, airlines . . . . I don't think I need to go on.

how about you, how has it affect you so far? Like most people, usurped many lives Nora. At this stage though, I would say I am luckier than others, but it depends on how long much longer our civil liberties are impinged upon and when our governments stop being clowns. I am starting to get concerned about the limitation of civil liberites, for real, governments love to get more power and are seen starting to pass laws that give them more power and limit more liberties and one wonders how far they will go and how quickly will it IF AT ALL go back once its not needed, or if people just forget about all these new laws and regulations then?

With good reason. If it keeps them home, good.

(Other) I'm retired, and schooling ... at least in the formal sense ... was completed many years ago.
To that degree, I'm fortunate.
However, as a "Boomer," I'm in the cross hairs of this menace. So, I guess it's no picnic for anybody.
Stay well, all!
