Just rewatched the final season. Loved it and loved the ending.
Am I the only one?

I thought the last season and ending was ok.

Personally I don't mind the ending. I just feel that more episodes were necessary. Maybe even another season.

I just feel that more episodes were necessary. Maybe even another season. I agree with this i think season 7 and 8 should both have had 10 episodes and not 7 and 6 like they did have. i think that would have helped. and even than another season with 10 episode would probably have been needed to make it even better.

Yeah, one season should have been about the White Walkers and the other about the final battle between Dany and Cersei. The conclusions to both were both ridiculously rushed and sloppy and forced characters to act in not so in-character ways.

The first two episodes were very promising. It nosedived after that. It seems so ridiculous that they decided on a six episode final season when HBO would have allowed them as many as they wanted. Putting aside the awful plotlines, it was just so rushed, you would think the show had been cancelled and they had to wrap it up quickly. I feel very bad for the actors. They did what they could with what they had, and there were some great performances, but they will be overshadowed by what I consider one of the worst endings to a primetime show I've ever seen.
Regarding the plot, I wonder if after seeing it get so thoroughly criticised, GRRM is planning to rewrite the ending. (I'm aware it's a longshot we even get to read an ending written by him.)

Everything in the 2nd half of the finale was insanely stupid. I used to think the show dumbed down for TV audiences but I then realised the author of the books is no better since this is the ending he told. An utter disgrace.

I had no major issues with the ending but I am curious to see which way the books will go, hopefully in this lifetime!

I am a big supporter of the final season.

I think the second-to-last episode changed the direction of the season in the wrong way. I liked the last episode because it was probably the best possible outcome of that new direction.

I think the second-to-last episode changed the direction of the season in the wrong way. The twist was made as sudden as possible to shock dumb little fools but everyone with a brain had seen it coming at least three seasons earlier.

Daenerys showed negative traits throughout the series, but never to that extent. Either way, I wasn't talking only about that. So many soldiers doing what she did (even though Greyworm was arguably the only one with a good reason), Jaime going back to Cersei, The Hound wanting to kill The Mountain, etc... Also, a lot of the characters' deaths didn't feel dramatically satisfying.

He spent 8 seasons saying he cared for nothing but her but again, dumb little fucks wanted to see him on some stinking "redemption arc". I'll agree the storytelling went down the drain from Season 6 on but the main reason for the major backlash in Season 8 was that morons didn't get what they wanted.

Speaking as someone who watched the series twice: S8 was bad writing, bad acting, bad continuity, just bad television. It's an embarrassment to HBO.

dumb little fucks wanted to see him on some stinking "redemption arc". No, he already was on a redemption arc. That's the problem. It was reversed almost at the last minute.

had no issues with the ending except that horrible Council Meeting.
I hated Dany's turn to the absolute dark side and also despised episode 4

There were a lot of things I liked about the final season...but there were a lot of things I hated as well.

The last season was terrible. It was rushed and a betrayal of all that had come before it, in quality, storytelling, character arcs, etc. etc. Appointing Bran as King was a very bad decision.

After all he was better than any Lannister selection and Jon was so obvious I would have despised it. I didn’t think Dany’s arc ended well at all. Even if that turns out in the books Martin will have a thousand pages to evolve it.

Even if that turns out in the books Martin will have a thousand pages to evolve it. Bran felt like a bad choice because he doesn't seem qualified...and they literally had him turn down his Lordship a few episodes earlier. The only character left alive that they kind of built up a possible Kingship around was Sansa. She was really the only main player that showed the capacity to rule to a competent degree. If they do go with Bran in the books I hope they flesh out that decision better than the show, is all.
