Actually, Howard the Duck (1986) was the first Marvel film. It was really bad, but it was based on a Marvel property. Howard the Duck was under the old banner Marvel Productions, which was used as an animation studio for New World..the majority of their work was non-Marvel animation series. Blade was the first film produced by Marvel as we know it now (perhaps should have been clearer in my initial post). In partnership with other studios as opposed to bought as a subsiduary so it's resources could be used by another. Marvel in the film business has gone under numerous names, but it was at this point they became truly involved in the production/creation of one of their own properties for the big screen. There was The Punisher, Captain America (straight to video in US) and Fantastic Four (never released) before that. Right. Didn't know the first part. I have heard of those earlier Marvel superhero movies, though I've never bothered searching them out. Wasn't that Fantastic Four movie Italian-made or am I mixing it up with something else?

The thing that bugs me with Blade is the end. The blood god thing seems kind of lame. I know they reshot the ending and it probably works better than the original--but with all those flying bat creatures, I think Frost should have turned into something more impressive than a guy who has T-1000 like healing powers.
"Did I catch you fuckers at a bad time?"
