Yes and he also thought Jar-Jar Binks was going to be a beloved character, shows what he knew.
And now the comics and that are canon because Lucas doesn't have any say anymore and he's kind of salty and bitter about that, until their not, it's fucking stupid but until a movie or TV show state otherwise this is now canon.
Keep in mind Lucas also thought Han shooting first was the better idea 20 years after the fact and that all the additions he made to the films made them all better, when it's like 1 in 7 maybe actually enhance the movies somewhat if we are being generous that is.
Nope, Star Wars began as live action movies, until it is shown in live action movies or tv, it never happened. This is the way SW has always been and always will be. I thought that when the films and the expanded universe contradict each other, the films take precedence as the higher authority. But Shmi is full of shit. And Qui Gonn is an idiot. Anyone else would have known she was lying. There is a father, she just doesn’t know his name.

According to you, according to the people actually in charge it's canon until a higher tiered instalment contradicts this, Movies>TV>Comics, that's how it goes, just because you think differently doesn't matter, you thinking differently makes you wrong unfortunately.

And very few people pay attention to books and comics. They will never matter.

And very few people pay attention to books and comics. They will never matter. No because I didn't even give an opinion, just how Lecasfilm handles the canon now, Movie take priority, then TV then comics and other stuff, but that also means animation so Clone Wars technically should supersede The Mandalorian, but also the Ewok movies and Holiday Special aren't canon despite being live action and such, and several comics and books were established as canon from the get go of the new canon, which includes Son of Dathurmir or something which is a Maul comic or something.
Currently canon movies and shows are the OT, ST and PT, Solo, Rogue One and Clone Wars the movie and the TV show, Rebels, Resistance and The Mandalorian, comics are way too vast for me to recall of the top of my head, but also story mode in Battlefront 2 is also canon as is Fallen Order apparently.
Lucas was also pretty much a anything he has a hand in is canon, anything else isn't, so Clone Wars and maybe Force Unleashed 1 & 2 I think were all canon according to Lucas at one time, Clone Wars still is obviously, now it's just that if they say it in a book it counts, unless they contradict it in a TV show then the TV show counts, unless they then contradict that in a movie at which point it's set in stone...SW canon is kind of weird, Marvel & DC are so much easier what with their Earth, 1's 2's 3's and even 616's .

And very few people pay attention to books and comics. They will never matter. Well... the majority of fans don’t, but a very sizable minority do (pay attention to books and comics). But when it comes to canonicity I fundamentally agree. The thing about books and comics is, they do help expand the fan base. And some fans appetite desires to be entertained with more in between the onscreen stuff. Some of it is even well done. I also get “the levels of canon” argument because that’s the regard and code the fan base has come to practice. Having said all of that... onscreen stuff is “written in stone” canon. (At one time only the episodic movies were. But after Lucas made Star Wars: The Clone Wars the animated stuff thereafter joined that status). Everything else is “erasable” canon. Even if it doesn’t contradict the onscreen stuff. How Disney handled the “Legends” stuff should be a lesson to that. They decanonized everything not onscreen - whether it contradicted or not. And anything that’s erasable canon is fair game to argue... because, quite frankly, it will never have “written in stone” status unless it appears onscreen. Those are just the facts.

Also, Darth Sidious didn't look like that until Episode III.
Even when Senator Palpatine was in the guise of Darth Sidious, the lower half of Darth Sidious's face was clearly not deformed.
Darth Sidious still had the face of Senator Palpatine, just partially hidden from view under a cloak.

That looks like an astral plane type of place. His appearance looks like his inner self. Ugly.

I guess it has some symmetry. Shmi, as a slave, was probably born illegitimately and probably made up the name.
