That makes sense. DC and Marvel should be like the Jordan-era Bulls and Bird-era Celtics: friendly rivals. The better the movies are, the better the competition. The better the competition, the better the rivalry. The better the rivalry, the more money both sides make.
It's a win-win.

There were even Marvel-DC crossovers at one point. Then the internet came... and the dark times followed...

It will glorious to one day look back and laugh at the passing fad that is the MCU, while looking forward to the new Batman and X-Men movies.

You need to find better insults. I can't wait for the long arc of history to judge the MCU for the two-bit, mass-produced, McDrivel it most definitely is. "Can you believe those turd burger Marvel movies used to make all that money from all those sheeple?!" They will be looked at ironically and faddishly, not unlike westerns of the past.

Presumably because you're a douchebag with terrible taste in movies and total fanboy loser who took offense to my comments about your precious McDisney movies. Here's some advice: go watch better movies and change your stupid avatar. Maybe that will lift your spirit.

You need a better grasp of film history. Many westerns are still counted among the greatest films ever made. Your opinion of Marvel isn't something I'm going to argue with you, it's like arguing about somebody's favorite color. You either like the films or you don't. But comparing them to Westerns in a derogatory way makes no sense.

Doesn't everyone want them to succeed? Who doesn't want more movies worth watching?

Fans of either company do not stop Marvel-DC crossovers from happening. Marvel's Joe Quesada did. It is easy to blame the "Internet" for everything, but bear in mind that the DCEU is only a one-year-old franchise and the last crossover between them took place in 2003. And if Marvel do want other companies to make successful superhero movies, they would not be trying to cripple X-Men in all media in the hope that Fox would give up the film rights of X-Men. I don't think comic books lend a halo effect to the movies. It's the other way around. Marvel's hobbling of the X-Men IP amounts to them denying Fox new, viable stories to adapt into movies. That strategy isn't going to effect Fox in the short term - Marvel/Disney is likely thinking decades down the line. They want their IP back in-house. That's a sound business objective and it's not completely unfair. Why give licensees new material that will allow them to use the characters in perpetuity. Fox will eventually have to keep circling the same material over and over again in reboots.

There were even Marvel-DC crossovers at one point. Then the internet came... and the dark times followed... The sad thing is it really seems to stem from the movies, specifically since the MCU started. I remember when comic book fans were just comic book fans. DC/Marvel/Image/Valient, it was all good. But now, it seems as if you can only like DC or Marvel. That you can't like both. Or worse, that one is inherently better than the other.

I'll tell you another example.
I grew up in the late 90's with the WWF vs WCW war. Now, WCW was never better and it wasn't close. WWF was always the more polished product and WCW basically bought enough big names who were aging out to maintain viewership. I wanted nothing more than for WCW to just go away because it was an embarrassing show, and the day that Vince McMahon announced the buyout of WCW at the start of Raw is War, was an outstanding FUCK YOU moment to anybody who had ever supported the craptastic WCW. BUT, that's also the day when the WWF began it's nosedive into the obscurity it inhabits again now. It may be wildly popular among it's own fans, but it does not extend beyond that fanbase. Whereas there was a line of universally recognized talent, that has all but gone away. And while DC is likewise the inferior product to Marvel, I do wonder what happens if they shrivel up any further than they have. I'd like to say Marvel is dedicated enough to their product that it really doesn't matter what happens to DC, and they frankly don't care, but then again I thought the same thing about the WWF. And before anybody says the DC is just as good, just look at the laundry list of relevant characters in Marvel who were relevant even before the films, and are wildly popular after. Compare that with Superman, who most find boring. They aren't even advertising for the Wonder Woman film. And if you think Flash is a culturally relevant character, you're kidding yourself. Yes, there's Batman, and basically nothing else. Marvel has built themselves such a large stable that it's almost an embarrassment of riches now, but again, I do wonder what happens if they pushed to overwhelm everything, from video games to animation, and DC had almost no leg to stand on.

They will be looked at ironically and faddishly, not unlike westerns of the past -- and musicals of a certain era, action movies of the 80s, and so on. They will be "of a time." And people will still be going to see Superman and Batman movies, just as they have for decades prior to the MCU. X-men, too, but obviously to a lesser extent.

You know me. I'm just busting these jagoffs' balls to whip them into an absolute frenzy, and they are eating it up. I mean: THE MCU WILL BE DISCOVERED BY ALIEN ARCHEOLOGISTS DIGGING THROUGH THE RUINS OF HUMAN CIVILIZATION AND REGARDED POORLY!!!!!!1

It will glorious to one day look back and laugh at the passing fad that is the MCU, while looking forward to the new Batman and X-Men movies. The way MCU redefined CBMs will be influencing how they're made for years to come. Any future Batman or X-Men movies will have elements of the MCU in there...mainly because people are realizing the way X-Men did things has long been outdated and a similar story for Batman.
