Anyway, you could easily choose one film that justifies the existence of Hollywood? ?LIke the Wizard of Oz. Ya I could see that. Or Ghostbusters 1984, I could see that as an example as well.
However the exact opposite of that, in your opinion. Would be which film? Whichever film shows the best example of the opposite of justifying the existence of Hollywood. Because it sucks so much shit.
Ghostbusters 2016 is the example I would use. You?

If Ghostbusters 2016 and The Force Awakens were the only two films I could talk about, I'd put a bullet in my head.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen I forgot about that one. That is the worst. I'm going to change my answer.

rudeboyOnly someone who's anti-Christian would say that as it's really obvious that movie is no where near bad.

I simply found the film utterly inept, dreary, repellant and honestly wish I could take back the valuable hours of my life which I spent watching it. Gibson's earlier films as director didn't impress me much but this thing made me determined to avoid anything he churned out again. I disagree - I say it is very much bad. Beyond that, in fact. It's quite possible to remain impartial to a film's values and still find it an atrocious waste of celluloid. I also mentioned The Producers but I'm not anti-Broadway.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen I dunno which one it was. Maybe the most recent. But I was with my girl watching a preview of Marky in the latest Transformers movie before Wonder Woman. When it was over I started laughing and said loud enough for others to hear, "Are they serious with this?" And that got a good laugh from a bunch. If it is a movie that is way too fake with over dramatic acting, sometimes those previews look too ridiculous.

Haven't seen it and never will but MOVIE 43 sure sounds like a good candidate. But you wouldn't know for sure if you haven't seen it. You just know it from hearsay. I've seen Movie 43 and it's bad, but there are far worse comedies out there. I'd say Birdemic: Shock and Terror, The Last Airbender and Highlander 2: The Quickening are good contenders.

I think the Movie 43 concept is worse than those other movies-they are just bad audience pleaser exploitation films--but Movie 43, holy fuck-what a completely stupid and obnoxious concept especially with well known people in it.

I'm not the biggest fan of The Passion of the Christ but judging the film on the technical aspects alone, it would exclude him from being the go to example of a bad film IMO.

Well the Transformers movies, mentioned by others above, also have technical wizardry behind them but it doesn't stop them from being diabolical wastes of celluloid (I will admit that I haven't seen more than a few minutes of any of those, but I think I've seen enough). I don't think it's fair to restrict these discussions to low budget films only. The Passion of the Christ had talented people involved and still managed to be, in my opinion, an objectionable piece of junk. If anything that's a worse crime than making nothing out of very little.

The Godfather trilogy
The stupid Leone dollar trilogy
One Upon a Time in the West
No Country For Old Men, well almost any Coen movie aside from "True Grit"
Any Bruce Campbell movie
Any Adam Sandler movie
The Hannibal Lecter movies
The old and the new Ocean Eleven group
I could name a hundred others that are just as uninspired, uninspiring, unmotivated, dull, and depressing as these examples, and you have to admit all of those I named are ideal examples of just eliminating the History of movies. If an archaeologist ten thousand years in the future ever unearthed these pathetic movies and watched them, the people watching would shake their heads with disgust at a culture that had so little strategy, imagination, inspiration, motivation, and artistry.

You will never know until you watch it. A lot of other movies use the same concept, especially horror movies (Body Bags, Quicksilver Highway, the VHS series, Tales of Halloween, Ghost Stories etc).

Most (but not all) Hollywood films of the new century. The entire sensory overload genre that is still going strong.
