When I first heard of this project, I was under the impression it was gonna be a full on remake. But apparently this suggests it will be a sequel. If they got Johnson teaming up with Russell, that'd be something to see.

Originally it WAS supposed to be a remake. Later along they decided to make it a sequel. My biggest issue with this being a sequel is that I don’t believe many people have seen the original. It’s one of those cult classic movies so a remake would have made the most sense in my opinion. Jumanji sequels made sense because Jumanji was kind of already a big name and Welcome to the Jungle could work as a soft reboot. You didn’t necessarily had to see the first one to understand it. Honestly I never thought the original was one of Carpenter’s bests. I really wanted a remake cause I thought it could fix the original’s problems. |
