I would say good riddance since they are terrible theater chain , but this would be very very bad for the movie industry , for the largest chain to go under.

I've never had a problem with AMC the theater, only the human trash that congregates there.

If that happens, it will only leave one major theater chain in St. Louis.

I wonder if the virus is being used to cover up other reasons for financial losses.
Basketball teams are also looking at cutting salaries by half. All because of a flu?

Honestly the one AMC we had was a dump for years. Broken chairs left unfixed, holes in the ceiling, disgusting restroom maintenance. It only improved when a competitor opened up. Yet I donโt even bother with them.

I'm really broken up over the movie industry losing money. I mean if you love cinema, love watching movies, and enjoy works of art, why wouldn't you be?. Losing cinema as a form of expressions not exactly good for society especially as its meant to reflect our ways of life...

Losing cinema as a form of expressions not exactly good for society especially as its meant to reflect our ways of life... Indeed, any financial hardship for a chain or theater represents bad news, especially given the threat already being posed by streaming services and various technological platforms that simply do not, in my view, replicate the optimal cinematic experience.

Honestly the one AMC we had was a dump for years. Broken chairs left unfixed, holes in the ceiling, disgusting restroom maintenance. It only improved when a competitor opened up. Yet I donโt even bother with them. I have two AMC theaters in my (second-level) city, both of which used to be Carmike theaters prior to the merger in December 2016. One is fine, even if it features traditional seating; it reopened circa January 2014 (I saw Walking with Dinosaurs there that month). The other is rather shabby and understaffed; I have only been there four times and not since December 2017 after another unfortunate experience with that theater. Ticket prices are lower there, but a lack of staffing is an issue. The best part about the good AMC theater in my city is that it offers deeply discounted matinee prices ($6.01, tax included) for all shows that begin in the late afternoon and early evening (the 4:00 and 5:00 hours), including Fridays and Saturdays, and while most of the chains offer Tuesday discounts, AMC's Tuesday prices are the lowest at $5.10 (including tax) for customers with free memberships.

I better get prepared for certain rewards earned to not be validated. I actually paid $0 earlier this year for a movie thanks to those rewards!

Keep in mind, they are more likely filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy which calls for restructuring, not Chapter 7 which is liquidation of a company.
