I've read Stan Musial was a standup guy as well as Hornsby who just loved playing ball. Hornsby? He was one of the biggest assholes to ever play

One time, outside of Fenway, my friends and I were surprised to see former Red Sox outfielder Todd Benzinger walking towards us with two very attractive females on each arm. We asked him what was up, and he told us he was walking the girls home to make sure they got home safe and sound. He winked at us as the three of them walked away.
I thought that was pretty nice of him to help out those young women. 😉

I've "met " a few baseball players through the years but mostly I observe.
Watching interaction with kids and fans I've seen some stand up players.

The most personable are Sean Casey and Bob Uecker.

Ernie Banks? was he now? I've read that Banks wasn't all that nice. He played the media like a concert piano but treated some of his teammates badly. The general concensus is that Willie Mays was a nice guy. Wrong, he was a dick.
