So, I'm watching Leap Year (2010) this weekend, and made the mistake of reading a lot of NOT kind comments about it beforehand......and it was just fine! Not great, but fine! However, watching Amy Adams, I'm always reminded of the fact that though she may not be the most beautiful woman in all of Hollywood, there SURE is something VERY pleasant about watching her....though not JUST her looks, as nice as they are. Can't quite pin it down, but I think it's more than that...... What, if anything, do you like about her ?? SAVE FERRIS

Besides her acting talent, you've seen what she looks like, right?

Exactly! ; but it never is just about someones surface looks as I think you would agree with me in saying strictly by surface looks (assuming one uses more of that model standard of looks being higher and the further someone is from that the lower they are) someone would not have too much difficulty topping Amy Adams, but she's got that extra something that makes her stand out that many with possibly higher surface looks simply do not have. so in the end Amy Adams easily tops a high percentage of women straight up (in fact, she's in the running for my #3 spot (see below) straight up, not just Hollywood actresses but most all-around attractive women in general). hell, even recently you can see those commercials with Amy Adams in relation to all of this COVID-19 stuff etc, she's lacking her usual makeup, but she's still quite attractive as it's her overall presence/attractiveness that shines through ; if someone talks crap about Amy Adams, they are probably a so-so person in my estimations as their judgement of a overall person is not exactly good. it's partially her general warmth/kindness etc. but like you said, you can't quite say in detail exactly what it is, we just know she "has it". she's one of the most attractive actresses straight up as not many can even challenge her. in fact, Amy Adams in the running for my #3 spot straight up behind... 1)Vera Farmiga 2)Kari Byron (Kari is most known for the TV show Mythbusters). on a side note... Amy Adams little girl is tha shit p.s. but as usual... Vera 'The Anomaly' Farmiga is my clear cut #1 (she's been my clear #1 ever since about 2009 even though I first took notice of her likely sometime in 2006 even though I am pretty sure I first laid eyes on her before that) in terms of overall attractiveness as she's just not supposed to be THAT attractive, but she is (hell, she can make me tear up by looking at her etc. she's kind of distracting in movies though since I start focusing a bit too much on her which can take me out of the movie a bit ). NO ONE tops her and I doubt they ever will as that look in her eyes and warmth she projects etc is just off the charts and unmeasurable. I would get on my hands and knees and kiss her foot
Yes, and she's still great!
because we (the OP and I and others) can see past the surface. so whatever she might be lacking strictly on surface, she more than makes up for it overall.
she's just 'got it'.

I think it's a combination of her talent and artistry, her allure and sense of style, her camera intelligence and disciplined approach to movement, her humour, relatability and warmth of personality, her plucky determination, risky choice of roles and attention to detail. There's a mischief in her eyes and she loves explosions of colour. I also think it's the fact that she found success at a later age, so she's always come across to me as somebody who appreciates her success and works hard at her craft to maintain and improve; somebody who remains relatively humble and wise while working within a notoriously harsh, multi-billion dollar industry, and who doesn't take anything for granted. Her background in dance is important as she exhibits a special kind of discipline you see in trained dancers, be it Deborah Kerr, Goldie Hawn, Lea Thompson or Zoe Saldana.
She has compassion for lost souls, as opposed to always judging others, the latter of which is what most people in life seem to do. As an example, her friend, whom she misses dearly, actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, was a flawed human being, but she stood with him, as a friend should do. Directors say she understands the meaning of solidarity.
"Amy Lou Adams was born on August 20, 1974, to American parents Richard and Kathryn Adams, when her father was stationed with the United States Army at the Caserma Ederle military complex in Vicenza, Italy. She is the middle of seven children, with four brothers and two sisters. After moving from one army base to another, Adams's family settled in Castle Rock, Colorado, when she was eight. After leaving the army, her father sang professionally in nightclubs and restaurants. Adams has described going to her father's shows and drinking Shirley Temples at the bar as among her fondest childhood memories. The family was poor; they camped and hiked together, and performed amateur skits usually written by her father and sometimes by her mother. Adams was enthusiastic about the plays and always played the lead. Adams was raised as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints until her parents divorced in 1985 and left the church. She did not have strong religious beliefs, but has said that she valued her upbringing for teaching her love and compassion. After the breakup, her father moved to Arizona and remarried, while the children remained with their mother. Her mother became a semi-professional bodybuilder who took the children with her to the gym when she trained. Adams has compared her uninhibited early years with her siblings to Lord of the Flies. Describing herself as a "scrappy, tough kid", she has said she fought frequently with other children. Adams attended Douglas County High School. She was not academically inclined, but was interested in the creative arts and sang in the school choir. She competed in track and gymnastics, harbored ambitions of becoming a ballerina, and trained as an apprentice at the local David Taylor Dance Company. She disliked high school and kept mostly to herself. After graduation, she and her mother moved to Atlanta, Georgia. She did not go to college, which disappointed her parents, and she later regretted not pursuing higher education. At 18, Adams realized she was not gifted enough to be a professional ballerina, and found musical theater more to her taste. One of her first stage roles was in a community theater production of Annie, which she did on a volunteer basis. To support herself, she worked as a greeter at a Gap store. She also worked as a waitress at Hooters, but left the job after she saved enough money to buy a used car."

Adams is one of those actresses who comes to define a generation through her exemplary work in film. I'll always be on the lookout out for new work, and whatever it is exactly that she's got, she's most definitely got "it".
