Agreed!
Heck, Your probably going to think that I am crazy and foolish to think this but I actually do think that the Number 1 Best and Most Surprisingly Good Acting Performance in the Movie is from "Jed" who played the Dog-Thing in the Movie.
Even John Carpenter himself was impressed by how well the dog did with his scenes (most especially that scene when it is quietly wandering down a hallway and then suddenly spots someone alone in their room) in it.

You asked for it, you got it! I strive to pick the less obvious ones. In no order: Windows because of his laid back personality and I feel bad for him the way everyone gives him a hard time and then he gets it. The black cook. Forgot his name. "Hey! Who is putting their dirty drawers in the kitchen garbage!" And the way he "turns down" the Stevie Wonder! LOL Clark because he is a character actor I have always liked from seeing him in other things and I hate it that McReady does murder him. Blair. See my previous response. And of course the one key character, The Thing itself.
