Feel embarrassed to say this, but I actually think it’s the best paced and most Bond-y of the Brosnans (none of which I really like), at least in the first half. Once it gets to the ice palace (a cool setting, pun intended) and we get the horrible CGI and the invisible car, yes, the movie’s flaws overwhelm it, and it’s not a good movie all things considered. But I think that first half should get the movie more credit than it gets these days. That said, it’s disappointing that the beautiful Rosamund Pike wasn’t in a better Bond movie. And with that said, luckily she and Toby Stephens got to redeem themselves, at least from a Bond perspective, in the superb, still-running BBC Radio adaptations of Fleming’s books. (Stephens plays an excellent, Dalton-esque Bond in the closest performance I know to Fleming’s character, and Pike played Pussy Galore in the adaptation of Goldfinger.) Are those radio dramas available to listen to online? I looked at the link briefly but didn't see them there.

Yay. Other than a stupid invisible car, it's a solid and fun James Bond movie.

Here’s Dr. No, which I really liked: And here’s Goldfinger: Some more on some of the same channels, I think. They’ve had some great celebrity guest-villains: David Suchet as Dr. No, Ian McKellan as Goldfinger, Alfred Molina as Blofeld. Stephens’ Bond takes a little getting used to; at first he kind of seems like a cold fish like the Fleming character, but he has a dry humor mixed with a steeliness that I like. (While the adaptations are mostly super-loyal adaptations, the writers include movie stuff like the Bond-Moneypenny rapport, which is great.) He’s honestly one of my favorite Bonds.

I saw you removed your like from my reply in this thread. Weird. Do you have arthritis?

James Bond is supposed to have gadgets but not a ridiculous invisible car. I'd much rather see the brief case in "From Russia with Love" or the Astin Martin from "GoldFinger" than a silly invisible car.

The invisible car was a (gadget) and about as likely as a military base with mutant piranhas under a volcano.

Meh.
it's not as bad as some claim it is. it's pretty middle-of-the-road overall.

I voted Meh. It's likely the worst of the Bond films, but it does a stellar first act before things go off the rails. Madonna's title song is the worst of the series and the visual effects leave a lot to be desired.
