A lot of what’s been said about what happened then and there has been revealed to be incorrect. Should she be forgiven or hated just for making the trip?

It was a stupid decision that she seems regretful about.

It was a stupid decision that she seems regretful about. She has expressed regret about it, yet some people are still giving her Hell over it. Do you think she should be forgiven?

She did indeed walk back her decision to visit North Vietnam but, to her credit, has never renounced her opposition to the American occupation and aggression in south Vietnam. She was way ahead of the rest of the country on that point. It should also be pointed out that the pro-war Nixon camp lied about her in order to discredit her. The story of Fonda being slipped a note by a U.S. serviceman prisoner and then turning the note over to the guards is a total deliberate fabrication (i.e. lie).

And for the Cons who like to throw out the word "treason" in connection to Fonda...
There have been six GOP administrations in the White House since she visited North Vietnam (including Nixon). Since 1970, the Attorney General of the United States has been a Republican for 27 of those years. Why didn't any of them ever formally charge her with treason?
What was stopping them?

It probably wouldn't have been of much notice except when she sat in the anti-aircraft gun, that was a big mistake. A "bone"headed decision but probably "spur" of the moment.

It happened in what 1971 or 72. people need to get over it.

People should make their criticism pointedly, back it up, then move on. I think the people still regularly calling for her head are over the top and would do better to channel that energy against something worthwhile.
