Does anyone know why they decided to close the boards before the Oscars? It seems like a strange decision, considering it's the most important award in the Entertainment industry?

Because IMDB and Amazon don't care about the message boards or the movie awards discussions happening there.

That timing seriously was the final shit-cherry on the turd cake. Just shows how little they gave a damn.

It was awful timing ... but fortunately many people who were left stranded have found their way here.

Because they knew the traffic and interest would pick up for days and they would have to wait for the next window or piss even more people off. Or yeah, they don't care either way.

By keeping the boards up, for the Oscars, would've sent a signal that the boards do mean something.
It was a poker-face move.
