I couldn't find any threads discussing this movie and I'm curious what everyone thinks of it. Saw it for the first time tonight and was completely blown away. I can't believe the IMDB score of only 6.9 but was relieved to see almost all of the top reviews are positive. What are your thoughts on this late 90s movie starring Robin Williams?

It’s been a while since I’ve seen this movie. I remembered liking it as a kid, but when I watched it years later, I was somewhat mixed on it. I never disliked the movie, but it does have a certain level of sappiness to it that can be hard to get past. Robin Williams is always great, of course, though in hindsight, it’s a little uncomfortable how the movie ends with his character requesting to be allowed to die.

It's been ages since I last saw it. But I liked it fine.

A sappy borefest.
Roger Ebert nailed it.
"Bicentennial Man" begins with promise, proceeds in fits and starts, and finally sinks into a cornball drone of greeting-card sentiment.
