Die Hard is not a Christmas movie. It's more a Christmas movie than It's a Wonderful Life. While IAWL maybe not be a Christmas movie either, Die Hard certainly isn’t. That a movie takes place during Christmas doesn’t automatically make it a Christmas movie. Christmas isn’t integral to the plot - it’s just a plot device to explain the gathering in the building, John visiting. Otherwise it has nothing to do with Christmas. |

It's more a Christmas movie than It's a Wonderful Life. How so? Die Hard takes place entirely at a Christmas party, with Christmas themes & nods throughout. IAWL is Christmastime for its final sequence. That tv showed IAWL as a December tradition doesn't directly fulfill criteria. Die Hard has been shown in December forever as well. They're both Christmas movies, I just think DH checks more Santa boxes.

Let me see what would my list be: Peru Greece Portugal New Zealand Norway Thailand Cambodia Costa Rica Croatia Ecuador I have never been to Egypt or Israel, two countries that by all rights SHOULD be high on my list because of all the history, but for some reason they don’t really appeal all that much to me.

They're both Christmas movies, I just think DH checks more Santa boxes. What Christmas themes? The party could be a retirement party in August and the plot doesn't change. Some of the jokes do, that's about it. Never been a huge fan of IAWL, but the movie revolves around a traditional Christmas theme: the importance of family and goodwill toward all. Die Hard is one of the best actioners of all time, but it isn't a Christmas movie.
