My 10 favorite things about Election Day *
1. The end of nasty campaign TV ads 2. The end of promoted political sponsored ad postings on social media 3. The end of political robocalls 4. The end of robotext election messages 5. The end of having to block a bunch of politically-focused phone numbers 6. The end of political junk snail mail 7. The end of parties and candidates asking if they can count on you for election money 8. The end of all the “Vote Red!” and “Vote Blue!” idiotic postings and messages 9. The end of all the urging of people to vote 10. The beginning of people taking down political signs on public property and at polling locations
* Note: All of these will return in no time

These things are now permanent fixtures in our day-to-day lives, whether we like it or not. #1, 2 and 3 in particular. That shit is now as American as apple pie, and more present in our daily lives. May as well print that on our currency - "Apple Pie and Poisonous Political Discourse Everywhere....It's What We Do!" Your #10 actually bothers me and it always has. Because they don't take them down, they just (generally) leave them there. It's such a ridiculous waste of money and resources.

I never understood why anyone, from either side, puts up political signs on their lawn. One, no sign has ever swayed me one way or another, and two, there has never been a politician running for anything that I’ve liked enough to want to stick their message in front of my house. If Trent Reznor or Tiffani Thiessen run for something, I’ll make an exception, but otherwise fuck off with your signs.

Totally and this applies to ANY political signs (although the MAGA stuff is generally more obnoxious). Although.....in some ways, it's a good thing. For instance, if someone has their lawn adorned with political feces, then you can safely assume that you want to avoid that person and not be friends with them. The reality is that if your political beliefs can be distilled down into a 12" x 18" lawn sign, then you're a stupid person not worthy of friendship. They're doing you, and the rest of us, a mitzvah really. Now excuse me while I go affix a giant Mets flag to the front of my house.

From my kitchen window I can see into the den of my neighbors’ house. They are really nice people, older than my wife and I but not by much. Generally the perfect neighbors though. But one day I happened to notice in their den a big round 45 sign hanging on their wall. It totally changed my opinion of them because they both otherwise seem so educated and intelligent.

But if enough people put up signs, it will sway voters who are on the fence. Anyway an individual putting up a sign is just broadcasting their views, more than anything else. Saw a great sign down the road the other day. "I just wanted a sign."
