Has anyone seen it? I'm a huge fan of the original series, and would consider getting a CBS live subscription to check it out. They even allow you to stream it in black and white apparently, which is a nice touch and clearly shows the reverence for the original series.
Jordan Peele is hit or miss for me with horror. Liked "Get Out," didn't really care for "Us." I love his comedy stuff and think he's a very interesting and capable creative voice. Just can't figure out if his take on the "Twilight Zone" is going to be up my alley.
Like many others, I'm pinching pennies these days and wondering if the show is worth signing up for CBS live. Any thoughts or comparisons to other movies/shows?

Let me get this out of the way first: anyone who thinks it ruined The Twilight Zone by being "too political" is a fucking idiot. The show was always political.
That said, while I really wanted to like Peele's, it was pretty cheesy and clumsily executed. I stopped watching about 6 episodes into the first season.
And if it helps, I liked Get Out much more than Us.

moviebuffbradThanks man! You actually nailed the source of my hesitation. I always liked Serling's run on "The Twilight Zone" because while it was political, it promoted more thought on the raised questions, rather than steering you down a particular lane. I like a lot of Peele's work, but some of the 'agenda' seems a bit heavy-handed to me. I like my sci-fi/horror to pose a question rather than try to beat an answer into me. Jordan Peele is a hell of a writer, and I hope maybe the series gets a second season to really get its legs under it...but you pretty much hit the nail on the head regarding my concerns about it as of now.

It’s meh. I don’t think it’s any worse or better than the remake with Whittaker.

It's shite, the only thing worthwhile is the little prop nods to the original Serling era.

Yikes. I did like the 80s remake.

I remember the one special in the 1990s (Lost Classics) where they had Jack Palance as a scientist who invents a way of bring back the dead--it was supposedly a Serling script dug out of a desk--it sounded Serling-like)
