...until Kathleen the Karen Kennedy torpedoed that plan personally. www.piratesandprincesses.net/former-disney-world-vp-kathleen-kennedy-pushed-for-star-wars-galaxys-edge-to-be-based-on-sequel-trilogy/"We had just purchased Lucasfilm, and it started to become the talk about, okay, if you’re going to bring (Star Wars) to life, where are we going to do that? And (Disney’s Hollywood) Studios ended up being the place. Because that’s where A, it seemed to fit the best and it was the park that needed the update the most, to replace some of the experiences. So, we worked on that project for a couple of years. There were artists looking at layouts of the park. You just get a big aerial view and you get a big Magic Marker and you start saying “What if THIS was here?” or “What if THAT was there?” So you start blocking off these big chunks of space, and that kinda drills all the way down, and you keep going until you get to the attraction level and what the offerings are. And so we did it for a couple of years, and we had the Epic Theater, you know the Indiana Jones theater, that was going to be the heart of Star Wars Land. That was going to go away and we were going to plug it right in there. The Mos Eisley Cantina was going to be right across from Star Tours. We had all kinds of great concepts with that. We’d gotten WAY down the path on our drawings, but we hadn’t gotten into architectural drawings or anything. And then we got a call one day. They said “We got some news for you all.” And the Imagineering guys, they’ve heard this line many, many times during their careers. But I had never been through this. They said “Well, yesterday Bob Iger met with Kathleen Kennedy, who a lot of people may know is sort of George Lucas’ protege, and headed up Lucasfilm, And they had a conversation, a meeting, and Kathleen Kennedy, her point of view was there are way more Disney Star Wars stories ahead of us than behind us. So we really should think about, do we want to build a Tatooine and build what all of the fifty-somethings remember Star Wars as, or do we want to build something else which is going to appeal to all the upcoming generations who are going to know the new stories.”
And that day Tatooine was killed at the Studios. And all those concepts were put on a shelf. I’m sure they’re sitting in a vault, and I’m sure they’re going to be shown someday about what that land would’ve looked like, and what the attractions were going to be. The Imagineering team… we got off the phone and I was like “Can you guys believe this?” and they said “This is terrible, we’ve been working on this…” I said “What’s next?” and they said “Well, we get on a call tomorrow and start over.” I said “That’s it?” They said “Go out tonight, go have a few beers, cry in your drink, come back tomorrow, and we’re starting again.” They had been through this before. They know that until it’s signed, and until you start breaking ground, that none of these projects are guaranteed. They came back the next day and acted just as excited as they were two years earlier. I was really impressed by their optimism. And they dug into it, and that’s what you see today."

Tatooine would have been a better all encompassing local, as it is in all three trilogies. It also could be made, with a little creativity, to be redressed/reset to be a different era for different times of the year.

Kay Kay is at it again! Another move that divides the fan base more than it moves it forward. Toss out Mos Eisley for a new world that nobody knows. (It didn’t even previously show up in the expanded universe). This is like if some woman inherits a definitive comic book collection - (maybe from her father or even her ex) - and she decides to burn up all the vintage DC comics from the 1940s and 1950s because she wants the prospective buyers to only like the new stuff! Way to go Kathleen! Keep burning down the house!

I checked it out in VR and it doesn't even feel like Star Wars. There should be stormtroopers everywhere and the theme music should play and be heard everywhere. A lot more aliens should be seen constantly. It just feels like some planet in Chronicles of Riddick or something.

The buck stops with Iger--he just won't face up to his failures so Kennedy is the scapegoat.
Every decision made by Kennedy had to be signed off by Iger.

Overcompensating much? Like 3 of those pictures would have sufficed no need to spam a bunch of pics, also context would have helped something, for all anyone knows that all are from the one good day Galaxies Edge had, I doubt it but you know could have been the case.
I think the thing with GE is it was a bit of a misstep but not for it being new era stuff but because they basically told people it was going to be the hottest attraction and hard to get into and enjoy so a lot of people just went ok fuck it I'll wait till the initial buzz wears off to enjoy it, TBF though they started building this shit when TFA was the hottest thing, you cannot just change on a dime like opinions can, when they started this stuff the new era was on fire how were they to know the new stuff was going to drop in appeal so much? even then though it's the new stuff in relation to the movies, the new non movie SW stuff is still hot as fuck and can implement some of the Glaxies Edge stuff into upcoming SW to make it more of an actual OMG that's this from that it's so cool, like what the Cantina from Mos Eisley would have been.
I do think it is daft to say we have more ahead of us than behind us because yeah no shit, I mean Disney has more ahead of it than behind it but guess what they still use as huge marketing tools and attractions? the classic shit EVERYONE knows, Mickey Mouse is STILL the iconic symbol of Disney but when was the last time Mickey was what they were making billion dollar movies about?

I know that this is a very strange question to ask and if you don't mind me asking you it then when was the last time that you actually went to Disneyland itself ?
For me, I don't remember exactly when or how old I was the last time that I myself went to Disneyland but I do know that the last time that I did go there, "Toon Town" still hadn't even been built yet.

I myself have been thinking about going again (after this pandemic is finally over) since it has been quite some time now since the last time that I went there and I want to get as much info about how the entire theme park is now from anybody who may have been there recently (that is why I am asking when the last time you went was) and so then if I do go then I will know what to expect (like how high the prices there are for an example).
Plus, I actually also want to see Galaxy's Edge for myself.

I wont be any help then as I have never been, going to America to stay at a theme park was never something my parents were going to pay for nor I, was meant to go to Disneyland Paris twice though, once as a school trip in secondary school for my year which got cancelled due to bad weather preventing the ferry from setting off, but also the summer it opened my parents promised we would go for the weekend as a joint B-Day/X-Mas present for me the next summer, because France is easier to travel to than America from the UK, come X-Mas though my "present" turned into having a little brother or sister...suffice to say 5 year old me was NOT happy about it, but I got over it, clearly....
Hope you have fun if you go though, drink some blue milk, but only from Galaxies Edge, if that's the colour they pour on your cornflakes at the breakfast bar though I would ask some questions first if I were you.
