Originally posted in The Sandbox to little to no success, are there any storywriters who have ideas for movies, TV shows, and games that you'd either like to see get made or one day make yourselves?
Got a story idea that you'd like to share? I'm all ears. 😊

A few.
I would like to see a story being told about the romani holocaust, it was not recognised by Germany until 1982.
And Disney should stop doing all these remakes, and instead do something new, like a series of films about scandinavian mythology, like the story about when Thor got his hammer stolen and he dressed up in a dress pretending to be Freya, or how Loki got his lips sewn together by the dwarfs. And I'm sure there are thousands of untold mythological stories around the world.
And instead of telling the same old superman story over and over again, they should do a sequel about his home planet, set thousands or hundreds of years before he was born.

These are some good ideas, Yezziqa. Thanks for sharing. The second is particularly intriguing--I adore Norse mythology--but I doubt they would be made nowadays because Marvel Comics has unfortunately cornered the market on Thor, Odin, Loki, etc., as people now recognize their versions more than the authentic versions.

TheFilmologist, do you mean ideas for movies in particular or for fiction in general? I mean, I've long had an idea for a novel about rum-running during Prohibition, especially because, in the small village on Long Island where I was born, there is a whole series of hidden bootleggers' tunnels that run all throughout town, right down to the harbor, where the bootleggers would meet the boats. They're pretty amazing to see, though most of them are boarded up (and wildly unsafe) by now. Besides that, I frequently have ideas for mystery, historical, and adventure stories, though I usually only end up writing about half of my ideas. Recently, I came up with the idea for a detective-story based on the four points of the compass, in which four people have to live in four houses at each point for four years in order to gain their grandfather's money. Very contrived, yes, but then most mystery stories are like that. I think I thought up a fairly clever misdirection technique so that the solution would be both surprising and inevitable. Just throwing some ideas around.

On a related note, one could easily cobble together an Ancient Greece-verse using existing films:
Clash of the Titans (2010) Wrath of the Titans (2012)
Troy (2004)
300 (2007) 300: Rise of an Empire (2014)
Alexander (2004)

That plot is so good but so malleable that one can set it just about anywhere and probably make it a success. FULL DISCLOSURE: I did just that in a film class I was in when I was young, and no one even realized I was borrowing from Rio Bravo! To be honest, though, that might have been because I don't think the teacher hadn't seen a single movie made before Jaws.

Heck, if they could do Dashiell Hammett set in a high school, they can probably do Rio Bravo there too.) With the bullies as the bad guys and the main leads holed up in a classroom trying to defend themselves... (Might not be able to do it because of all the sad school shootings, though.) It could even be billed as a cross between John Ford and The Breakfast Club--wouldn't exactly be accurate, but what do Hollywood publicists know?

A story about an American SJW being forced to help a Mexican socialist UN PC guy fight US Imperialism would be cool
A movie trilogy about the Central Asian Russia vs US proxy wars.
A story about an African superspy playing the KGB against the CIA to help his country.
A story about WW1 soldiers from different sides deserting together and finding safe haven somewhere.
A kung fu movie about Chinese laborers in WW1 Europe.
A South Indian movie staring Chuck Norris would be epic. Think of Singham.
A movie about a Ninja following Hulegu's Mongol army to the holy Land where he has to kill someone.

Seriously, I don't know what my reaction should be except wry amusement, I suppose.

I came up with this idea a few days ago but still need to type up a basic story outline for it.
As an aspiring filmmaker, one of the ideas that I've come up with and would like to see turned into an actual film is what can only be described as A well-written self-insertion DC Comics fan fiction crossed with Terry Gilliam's Brazil. The film would be the spiritual successor to Brazil with differences being instead of a 1940's-inspired urban dystopia, it would be set in one based on the 1980's. Instead of delving into his own imagination to escape the daily nightmare of reality, our "Sam Lowry" finds his "Brazil", his personal paradise in reading DC Comics at work when no one's looking. The woman that he sees and loves in his dreams may be either Wonder Woman or an older Miss Martian (Or someone who I haven't even thought of yet).
Most of the film will take place inside the DC universe where he learns that no matter how INSANE the real world seems... it's NOTHING compared to how CRAZY comics can get. The iconic torture chamber scene I'm picturing with The Joker in place of Jack Lint with the ending that's a nice meld between Gilliam's preferred downer ending that currently ends both the American & European cuts of the film, with the infamous studio-mandated "Love Conquers All" BS ending that Universal wanted Brazil to end on.
The film would be half live-action/half animated with everything in the comic world, including our teleported hero being animated while the live-action portions act as wrap arounds. The film would start out in black & white, but like The Wizard of Oz, would turn to color once we enter the comic world. The animation style I would like is what's used for the more recent DC Animated Universe projects like Young Justice and Batman: The Killing Joke.
What do you guys think of my story idea?

I guarantee half the members of this site harbor the intention of writing a novel or screenplay.
There is nothing more boring than other people's dreams. A dream may seem very significant and compelling when we first wake up, but as soon as we try to describe it to another person it seems tedious.
I think the novels and screenplays which each of us (well, half of us, anyway) carry around in our heads are similar, and normally melt away like snowflakes in the sun as soon as we try to order them on paper.
They say "everyone has at least one novel in them" and that may be literally true. I have had an absolute masterpiece in mind for around 60 years. The trouble is, as my life has changed, so has the plot and characters.
I wonder if I will get it written before spiderwort catches up on his backlog of unseen important movies. I fear we may both be chasing rainbows.

A story about how a Hispanic/Latina, or Black reporter female reveals White Genocide to the World. How she uncovers the media lies on black on white crime, and how they hate to report true statistics., and how it runs rampant every day in society. In the end sacrificing her life to reveal the truth., while being hated and disrespected by her own people.
