very solid film with Hugh Jackman using his screen persona to twist things for the audience. Might be his best performance. Janney, Dillon, Geraldine, Wolff, and Casal were all good too as well. Janney deserves some Emmy love. Biggest obstensible issue with the movie might be that at times the subject matter comes off to slight and too straightforward as well. Some aspects are hinted at like Tassone and Gluckins corruption, wereas basically his homosexuality feels like its presented much more straightforwardly which makes it a bit tonally jarring, IE: are we hinting that Tassones repressed homosexuality ties unto a need for power and manipulation, or could their be something other basically? in many ways the screenplay could've left that ambiguous. I personally liked the subplot with Rachel as I feel while it can come off a tad undercooked and unrealistic, its necessary in giving us a window into basically Tassones world from the lens of someone not swayed by him at all.I also liked how the movie makes us question the morality of the proceedings.

7/10 his homosexuality feels like its presented much more straightforwardly which makes it a bit tonally jarring, IE: are we hinting that Tassones repressed homosexuality ties unto a need for power and manipulation, or could their be something other basically? in many ways the screenplay could've left that ambiguous. it can come off a tad undercooked and unrealistic It's interesting that you mentioned that, because the real Frank was interviewed in regards to the movie and he said that he wasn't closeted and that he had an open relationship with a man who knew about his deceased wife. it can come off a tad undercooked and unrealistic How so?
