I have a lot of food dislikes that are popular. Pizza, cheese, pickles, mustard, mayonnaise, lasagna. Pretty much anything with baked tomato products in it.

I could never understand why ET was such a big hit and, because you could only see it at the cinema, paid to watch it three times trying to figure it out. Yeah, I know.

Catman does not care for Titanic, E.T., Rocky movies, The Beach Boys, The Beatles (except for some of their later work), Michael Jackson, most country music, and dogs.

One food comes to mind for me... Pizzathat seems to be one of those foods a high percentage of people like to eat. I used to but over the last some odd years I have generally grown not to like it much. I might have a little once in a great while but it's not something I would go out of my way to eat for sure as I tend to avoid it in general. p.s. there are others foods I don't like but I doubt they are anywhere near as popular as pizza. I would pretty much agree with that. it's overrated for sure (like James Cameron's other movie 'Avatar'). p.s. for the record... I remember seeing it for the first time back around the time it was released on VHS from local video rental store and remember it being watchable but I never had a desire to re-watch it. then in Dec 2012 I decided to re-watch it, which I think might have been my 2nd viewing in it's entirety, and it was noticeably better for me vs what I remembered. but then on another re-watch in June 2016 it pretty much dropped off a cliff as I got 2hr23min into it and turned it off due to boredom. so this is one of those rarer movies that was a bit all over the place for me. like... average to solid to total crap. Aj_JuneWe are the same as I don't mind watching it (I watch Dancing with the Stars) but I definitely ain't the type to dance as I flat out won't do it. it's just not me, as if I did, it would come across as forced etc. I considered myself more of the athletic type back in the day (and even today I am probably not bad considering I have not got any real exercise in many years now) but dancing just takes a different kind of talent as it's more fluidity of movement where as athletic stuff you can just use your natural energy to burn etc to do fairly well there. SandmanI would likely agree as I tried to watch Star Wars (1977) in July 2015 and I could not finish it due to boredom. so I never bothered to see the rest. although I am pretty sure I did see little bits and pieces of some of the others back around the late 1980's or early 1990's on TV but not enough to claim I have seen them then. but basically that high appeal (like some people seem to like it a lot) of Star Wars I just don't see it as many other big budget movies easily top it. p.s. although I noticed you said you like Star Trek. but I don't care for that either but at least Star Trek (2009) was watchable even though forgettable for me. TheOriginalPinkyI still mildly like those but they lost a good portion of their appeal for me vs say 10-20 years ago. Fox in the SnowYeah, I got to agree with you. he's overrated. I see him more as a performer than a straight up singer. but I think others that are hugely popular from the past that are no where near as good as they are made out to be... The Beatles. they ain't bad but don't stand out to any high degree if you ask me. SandmanIt's overrated for sure as while it was not as bad for me as it was for you, it's still quite weak overall. I gave it a 4/10 (below average). I think Kubrick in general is highly overrated as his movies tend to be average at best with some being total crap. he's one of the most overrated directors straight up. the movie is just empty overall as it tries to sell it from the visuals, and while it's visually not bad at all, it does not do it to a high enough degree to keep you interested etc. Feologild OakesAgreed. StammerheadAgreed. it worked better for me as a kid/teen (like late 1980's or into the 1990's a bit) as I have not seen it in ages until June 2019 and found it to be pretty dull overall (I gave it a 4/10 (below average)). I did not expect that movie to take as much of a hit for me as it did. klsThat was something that grew on me with time as I basically never started drinking til I was 25 years old (technically I had some before that point but it was minimal to the point I don't really count it), which is pretty much 15 years ago now. I started with wine and never really cared for beer until Sep 11th 2012 as I had a pretty bad day that day and said screw it and has some beer and noticed as I had some more the taste grew on me (as in the past I tried a tiny bit here and there but it just never stuck). the harder stuff I have here and there as I would say between hard liquor/beer/wine, I generally opt for beer or hard liquor (none of that sugar crap mixed with the hard liquor as it ruins the taste) as I find myself drinking wine the least now. beer is probably what I generally go with (maybe a couple of 12oz beers a week or something like that) with occasional hard liquor. CatmanI agree on all of that except dogs. I don't see how anyone who likes animals won't like dogs as they just have more personality etc. but in terms of ALL music... the only music I cannot stand is that death metal type of crap where they just scream/grow and the music just screams negativity as I have always been of the mindset that if there is a music closest to Heaven it's classical music and if there is a music closest to hell it's the death metal type since classical has a calming/peaceful/joy effect where as that death metal type of crap just gives off major negativity as people who get into that stuff I would question them as a person, especially if they get into it a lot. but that major dislike stuff aside... I would say collectively, for a popular genre, country is one of the weaker ones for me even though there might be little exceptions once in a while. but most of the pop stuff is pretty bland (you might find a occasional annoying song to) as it's generally not bad but has no staying power as it might be temporary semi-popular but is forgotten in the near future. hell, in the old days (from 1992-1993 through about 2004-2005) I listened to nothing but gangster rap as no other music did anything for me until I was basically in my mid-20's I finally started to outgrow rap and like other music which back in those old days I never thought would happen.

For example, a movie, a food, a song, a drink, etc.? For me, an example would be the movie Titanic. I was not enchanted. Alcohol, cigarets, drugs - cant really say i dislike it but I never tried any of it, does that count?

Sports in general. Especially college sports. I'll watch a baseball game now and then if I get free or cheap tickets but it's just not a thing for me. I used to love football but that was in the '80s and '90s when it didn't seem like every play deserved some kind of dance, expression, or something. It seems like with the people I know they are obsessed with it. My wife's circle of friends all have husbands that only talk about sports. She wonders why i'm bored when I accompany her to parties with them.

She wonders why i'm bored when I accompany her to parties with them. Going down the thread, I was wondering if anyone would cite this, so I'm going along with you, vegalyra . For mine, I'd qualify my dislike as being for team sports specifically. I've been known to enjoy golf, tennis, bowling and all of the non-team Olympic events, save boxing and wrestling. I become an absolute addict during the Olympics, and have sometimes followed certain sports or competitors in between through the national and international competitions. I don't begrudge anyone their interest, but put two teams on a field of any kind, be it grass, wood, ice or what have you, and it becomes monotonous to me. And other than baseball, they're all the same damn game: football (what we in the U.S. call); basketball; hockey; soccer (again, by the U.S. designation); the external trappings vary, but the structure and goal (pun acknowledged) are identical. And while baseball is at least the exception, I find it only a little less soporific. Those feelings usually spill over onto movies about team sports as well.

I didn't think the individual film message boards on the old IMDb were anything special. Boo. Hiss. Well if nothing else, it's probably the response that most lives up to the thread title.

A lot of movies. Rocky V, Ghostbusters II, the Godfather III. Most people don’t like Rocky V and Ghostbusters II, and evening most people who like The Godfather III still consider it a disappointment compared to the first two.

Dancing. I don't like it. I prefer to go an ghost tours to underground vault or for a dinner or on an adventure. But dancing I cannot stand. But most of my friends like dancing a lot. Same here. I got two left feet, but aside from not being any good at it, I have no desire for it. Something about dancing just feels very unnatural to me.

Well if nothing else, it's probably the response that most lives up to the thread title. If you love film, the old boards gave an in-depth analysis which you could find nowhere else. And what's not to like about discussing movies? I'm happy to discuss any film with anyone on Film General , Classic Film , World Cinema , New and Upcoming or any of the other Film related boards here. If that's not enough for everyone, I don't know what else to say.
