A new remake of A Star is Born is scheduled for 2018 season. Staring and directed by Bradley Cooper, with Lady Gaga acting under her real name, if that thrills you!. Story is still based on William A Wellman story.
The Norman Maine Charachter is to be more modern, based on Kurt Corbain
My personal view is enough is enough!

This is a late April Fool's joke, right? Right? Please, someone tell me it's just a prank. Please? Seriously, enough is enough, teleadm. Hollywood has completely run out of ideas if they're this set on ruining memories of classics. And didn't The Artist tell the general outlines of this story, in a respectful and fairly original way, too? I just hope this--er--effort goes the way of the failed Jennifer Garner Miss Marple movie. (Yes, that was a possibility for a while...)

Well, they've already remade every film from the 1980s, so I guess that they are now remaking those of earlier decades (in this case, the 1930s, the 1950s, and 1970s). Given the way things are going, it won't be long until remakes of Kid Auto Races at Venice and Roundhay Garden Scene are done, presumably in 3-hour IMAX 3D editions.

I can see it.
Has Love Story been remade yet? I can see them doing it with the Ali MacGraw character Indian-American (as in East Asian, not Native American) instead of Italo-American, with her family running a convenience store in Providence. The rich Boston boy would now more logically be from Manchester By The Sea (the Boston stuff was anachronistic by 1970 anyway).

LOL Love Story actually had a sequel that apparently nobody remembers Oliver's Story....

In 1970, when "Love Story" opened, one critic, channeling Oscar Wilde, wrote, “It would take a heart of stone to sit through Ali McGraw’s death scene and not…laugh.” I can’t imagine that changing no matter how a re-make was done. But one reason for doing it might be [ALERT: sarcasm dead ahead] because we can’t get enough of the catchphrase “Love means never having to say you’re sorry.” That’s been so meaningful to so many people. [snort]

I guess it doesn't count since it was originally a novel, but still....I doubt the world needed so many versions.

If there actually was an Oscar for for just making a remake, that would open doors of unproportions.
