I watched the original three bigscreen in the theater. I later re-watched them with a friend during a marathon session in 1991.
I tried to watch the fourth one, made it about 20 minutes, and thus ended that.

I was a bit young to catch the first three in cinemas but there was a digitally remastered release in cinemas maybe 20 years ago and I managed to see all three on the big screen.

Honestly, I’m a lukewarm Star Wars fan. I’m more Team Star Trek.

Teleporting across the universe from planet to planet is "legit sci-fi"? I like both star trek and wars but I wouldn't go that far.

I like both star trek and wars but I wouldn't go that far. That sounds more like "Stargate". However, I agree that the "transporter" (and the replicator) are plot devices that are extremely unlikely to ever be developed - in part because of the tremendous amount of energy they would require but mainly because of the nature of Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle.

Sounds like Stargate too but you do know that star trek does offworld teleportation too...

So, there are fans who have been painstakingly working to uproot those wishes of Lucas by scanning and restoring 35mm theatrical release prints of the original trilogy in 4K resolution. Though it won't produce the exemplary details of an original negative, it's an emulation of what audiences probably saw during the original theatrical run. Organic grain, deeper contrast and flicker. Again, it's not a definitive version but it's the sharpest we'll ever get to see of the original, unaltered trilogy that we all grew of age with. Check it out... www.thestarwarstrilogy.com/project-4k77/
