wesley snipes after major leaguesteve guttenburg after police academy 4 captain panaka after phantom menace, i think liam neeson after darkman, though i doubt his attitude was that he was too good for the role Um... One of the qualifiers for this list is that their career DIDN'T take off after they left the franchise. Snipes and Neeson hit it huge after they left those franchises.

Stumbling upon this subject, it should be noted that the third Major League movie was subtitled "Back to the Minors". Snipes had a bigger career in the 1990's than the three above the title stars in the original movie (Charlie Sheen, Tom Berenger, Corbin Bernsen).

When did Jackman leave X-Men? After X-Men: The Last Stand. Cameos don't count. Does X-Men origins and The Wolverine and Days of Future Past not count or something?

Alec Baldwin in Jack Ryan Michael Keaton in Batman Will Smith IDR Biggest loser is probably Crispin Glover in BTTF Baldwin was dumped as Jack Ryan in favor of Ford; he didn't leave on his own Keaton read the script for Batman Forever and decided correctly that it sucked (and the franchise didn't really rebound with its next effort, did it?) Will Smith was a genius not to get involved with the train wreck of a sequel that nobody was asking for. Three pretty poor examples. I heard Keaton wanted a ridiculous amount of money for Batman Forever, but maybe that was after he read the script.

I'm just gonna say it. Keira Knightley and Pirates of the Caribbean. What other roles that she did are as memorable as Elizabeth Swann? To her credit, she's done everything from drama to romance and action thrillers or oscar bait fluff. But what's the quintessential Keira Knightley performance? She's been nominated for two Oscars and probably should have been for another 2-3 roles in all honesty. Keira has never really sought out a career in huge blockbusters; in fact she's stated several times that she really would prefer the exact opposite. As far as her quintessential performance, I'd say that honor definitely goes to Pride & Prejudice. She is returning for what is probably nothing more than a cameo in the upcoming Pirates movie though. What was Orlando Bloom's excuse?

Well Terence Howard left Iron Man after finding out he would take a pay cut for the sequels (apparentley he was the highest paid in the 1st film). Seeing how much money the subsequent Iron Man films, Avengers Ultron and Civil War made, seems to be a (financially) dumb move. Yeah,it was too bad, because I liked Terence Howard a lot more than Don Cheadle--Think there were other problems too, something like Howard and Downey didn't get along--Anyway,Howard did ok with the TV series Empire

I wasn't answering for him, I was just replying to the comments about Keira. As far as his lack of success is concerned, I'd chalk it up to him being just another bland pretty boy and a fairly shit actor.

Keaton was punished for not doing a third Batman. It wasn't like he went off on his own and his career flopped. He said he was specifically blacklisted because of it.
The Glover situation--Bob Gale was blacklisted in Hollywood because he dragged Spielberg into a lawsuit over the Glover BTTF situation.
