Does anyone else use unrelated films as sequels to other films they like?
Here are a few of my favorites:
Godzilla (2014) is the grown up baby of Godzilla (1998)
Kong (2017) is the grown up baby of King Kong (2005)
Battleship (2012) is a second alien invasion after Independence Day (1996)
Troy (2004) is a prequel to Alexander (2004)

Blade Runner is a prequel to the Alien universe, particularly Ridley Scott's Alien films. Androids are as much the focus as what the xenomorphs are. Blade Runner would help one understand David from Prometheus.

He's not promoting it, yet he's not denying it either. It's probably some meta easter egg universe he's playing in & if name drops from one film to another line up, so be it.

The Conversation/Enemy of the State - "Brill" is Harry.
Her is a prequel to The Terminator.
Before it became official, I liked the idea that all the DC movies were a big multiverse.

In my mind, 'Mad Max' is a sequel to 'Panic in Year Zero.' In the latter movie, you see a limited nuclear exchange that begins the crumbling of society and the start of an "every man for himself" world where public highways are no longer safe, but not total devastation. You can imagine 'Mad Max' taking place a few years down the road.

The American President is the sequel to Independence Day. That’s how he lost his wife.

This is really stupid, but as a kid I always liked to imagine Dennis The Menace was set in the alternate universe from Back to the Future Part II and Switchblade Sam was Doc Brown in that universe.

Supposedly Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, and Django all take place in the same universe.
