Same. I'm very wary of video game movies these days. It's been twenty-seven years and the peak of the genre remains Prince of Persia.

I’m hoping Eli is doing this cause he’s a fan of the games and actually has a vision for the movie instead of just doing this cause it’d make him money. I do think Eli Roth is a very capable director and I think he did a pretty decent job with House With A Clock In Its Walls.

Blanchett looks to be doing they all-too-typical career trajectory of aging H'wood actresses: from quality to schlock in zero to sixty.

The "schlock" she does she enjoys doing and gets paid well for it. And do "H, wood" a favour... don't become an agent anytime soon you would suck at it.

Also just to add to my reply: in an America where covid vulnerable pensioners like Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden think they can run a country... Aging actresses like Cate doing "schlock" later in their careers is not even in the same league as embarrassing.

Since I'm not addressing Blanchett directly, I don't 'give a f---k what she'd think' either. l am addressing you directly, however--and I give no more of a f--k about your inanely expressed views.

Is this a good or bad thing? I played all Borderlands games (including the Tales from Borderlands and the Pre-Sequel, for the gamers, I played Battleborn too) and I have been a fan of the franchise since day 1, so I'm more of a "purist" but Blanchett as Lilith? I don't know.
She looks more like Maya to me:
I don't doubt her abilities, just that I have a hard time picturing her in a movie that should have craziness of Deadpool set in Mad Max.
Otherwise, the reason I'm not having a good feeling about Kevin Hart as Roland is that the character is the strong leader (of little words), not the comic relief.
If you were to make a more mature or serious Sci-Fi/Post-Apocalyptic movie about it, then someone with the presence and charisma of Denzel Whasington would be better.
If you want to make the movie just as crazy as the universe of the game, then someone like Dwayne Johnson would be better, not only for the physical aspect but for the ability to deliver the most ridiculous lines totally seriously, not saying them and "waiting" for the badum-tss.
In Borderlands, all characters are more or less dysfunctional/crazy/broken but they manage to function together despite all their issues and craziness so the delivery has to be serious no matter how batshit crazy the lines are and there is no pause for people to "catch-up" since they don't try to make jokes. I may be misjudging him but I'm not sure this would be Kevin Hart strong suit.

They cast Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr. Tannis. I'll admit this ain't a bad cast for an Eli Roth movie.
