Interesting. Ellison's story sounds pretty awful, to be honest. Many of his works are brilliant but has a ton of clunkers, too. The Titan idea is a little better. I'm not sure they could have pulled it off in the 70s but you never know. Any story with God is difficult. I wish Star Trek V had gone another way. I'm one of those very very few who loves TMP, at least in my experiences, especially the Director's Edition. To me, it is the only epic Trek film fit for the big screen. Hopefully it will be showing near here at some point. I am kinda obsessed with the film. I preordered the book on the visuals of the film. I even bought this model of V'Ger.

I even bought this model of V'Ger. The model of V'ger reminds me of the sword from Lifeforce (1985).

None of the ideas sound all that great. Maybe the one with buildings vanishing and the people turning into lizards, but I'd have to know more about it.

I wonder what a model of the original V'ger from the original theatrical, television, and VHS home video releases would look like.
